The £160 for two days and seeing several bands each day is fine, but we don't all live in Londonshire. The price has prohibited me from attending, with travel from Scotland, accom and eating etc I would be paying around a grand.
May as well save and go to the US and have a holiday as well as attend a Country festival.
2 nights of shows £160, 2 nights at Ibis Docklands or Holiday Inn Express £165, Edinburgh to London return train from £60 booked in advance, or from ~£110 first class. Still £500-odd short of a grand, should be enough for a couple of taxis and maybe even eating out ;-)0 -
Not been to any gigs but the £70 is a figure I would have in mind for this sort of thing. Just looking at the 02 site now and prices vary from 1 band to another.0

O2 can't really build your travel expenses into their costs though...0 -

Praise, VENT and warnings forum. Seems that price is a legitimate reason to have a vent.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Top class tickets, if they were available, for 2014's CMA fest would be in the region of 250 - 300 dollars. The O2 looks like a bargain in comparison.
Yeah, but that is likely to be for the entire event, which, from memory spans at least 3 days. It also takes into account not just concerts in the evening in the "primary" venue (a massive stadium), but also numerous smaller concerts taking place at a variety of venues during the day, plus limitless other attractions. So it does represent excellent value for money in my eyes, and if I could afford the plane fare, I'd be there in a shot.
Tickets for this event at the O2 are something in the region of £130 for the weekend, plus I would have to pay for accommodation, food and travel. That and there are no decent seats available, so I am looking at aat least £200/£300 in costs once all that is taken into account. *That* is what irks me.
All that being said, if I can, by some miracle, scrape that money together I will go. A band that I haven't seen perform in a decade is playing and I would love to see them perform again. I just resent being forced to pay through the nose for poor seats.
As a comparison - another "mid range" well known US country band are playing in the UK this november - smaller venue - and charging £20 per ticket. To me that represents excellent value for money. Paid about the same to see another well known band in Scotland a few years back. I don't mind paying more for decent seats, but well over £100 for nosebleed seats? Someone is taking the mickey.0 -

All that they are doing is what any good business will do and that is to charge whatever the market is willing to pay.
If they can charge £100+ for seats knowing that they will sell enough to make a decent profit then this is what they will do.
If no one paid this amount then they would probably lower the price nearer the event date.0 -

i.e do you think it costs the same to run your local corner shop as it does to run your nearest supermarket.0 -

Why thank you, can you get that price for 4 please?0 -
You can see a band at the local boozer for the price of a pint, some bands are worthy of charging more, hence why you want to go see them.Be happy...;)0

I don't mind paying for live music, recent concerts are jake bugg and tom Odell - £17.50 each, stereophonic a£35. Fantastic value compared to the cost of football match tickets.0
