Washing machine shakes too much

Options
Not sure if this is the right forum to get an answer but here goes.
Our washing machine always shakes a lot from side to side during the spin cycle.
The shaking has suddenly increased so much now that it batters against he cabinets on either side and has to be turned off to avoid any damage to the cabinets.Any idea what has caused this and the solution?Hopefully its not terminal.

Thanks
cslogg

Have you checked the front 2 feet - the things you turn to level it out ? - Make sure the are level with each other and not loose

Ours only seems to shake when we put too much in it, of it's not level

    Good luck ;)

Mine too. Pulled it out to turn off water and it started to bang like mad. Pushed it back and all was well. Caused by the difference in the thickness of the floor covering of kitchen floor and under worktop

Most washing machine have some sort of a damper or large spring system that stops them vibrating.
If a spring breaks or becomes detatched or the damper breaks they then shake / vibrate real bad.
Unplug the machine and have a look inside ( probably easier to take the top off rather than the back ) its usually fairly obvious whats broken / come off.
Should be easy to fix yourself and even better CHEAP to do.

One word of caution, washing machines can retain a massive electrical charge, enough to kill so be very carefull fiddling around inside one if you don't know what you are doing.
