Opening additional Flexdirect accounts

Options
I have two flexdirect accounts, both paying 5% interest:beer:.

Three weeks ago I applied for an additional account;) through the links on my account.
It said I was successful but additional checks had to be made. Since then I have heard nothing.

A few days ago I decided to try again and got the same response.

I was wondering if anyone has been successful in opening additional accounts recently or whether nationwide have realised what is going on and blocking additional accounts now?

They are still allowing additional accounts, but they are stating the T&Cs say only 1 gets interest and asking you to confirm this before the account is opened.

Whether or not you actually get interest on the others I don't know.
  • You will eventually receive a letter from them asking you to sign that you have read the terms and conditions. There seems to be a delay in them writing to you, maybe they have a backlog, but up to now mine have all been opened and pay interest.

  • Done this twice recently for both the missus and I. Hers have gone through straight away both times. Both times mine were declined but a quick phone call and a referral to underwriting and it was opened

When I went to open my first account with them it got stopped by their counter fraud department and they wanted evidence of my income. Had a few times when they claimed to have called or written but I never received anything from them. Eventually got it sorted and now have the 3 accounts but do wonder if something to do with that causes mine to be declined each time.

What do your credit reference agency records say about you?

    That I am fabulous

On the surface, nothing appears wrong other than potentially the total available credit but that is less than 20% of my income and the fact that I rent in the UK (exc the "unlimited" chargecard and the car PCP that doesnt appear on my file)

MBNA dont like me, Nationwide declined but then accept on appeal every time and Capital One & AmEx seem to love me based on the limits they both gave me as new customer in the last 18 months
