Refusing to refund eBay for their decision

OK i sold a phone, it was returned and cosmetically damaged, and de valued, eBay decided to refund the buyer and charge me the full amount.

I am refusing to refund eBay for their bad decision, what can eBay do about that? I have already cancelled and removed paypal from my bank so they can't stealthily take funds from my account, its the end of eBay for me i will not be using it again to buy or sell.

  • Yes they can. They will put your Paypal in a negative balance and/or take funds from a reimbursement account/card you may have set up.

The best thing for you to do is to APPEAL the case. Take photos, ring up and ask for the email to add the photos to the appeal.

Don't be tempted to bury your head in the sand. Appeal the case.

Resistance is futile. I lost a case and Ebay dipped into my bank account and took the money themselves without asking.

Long term they may take you to court and can try other means before that to get the money back.
As above you could try telling appealing and letting them now, if you haven't done that they will just think you've shafted them.

They already know the details of the case, they have sent a message saying their request failed to take money and to "please set up a method of reimbursement" lol, well no, i won't, it was their decision to refund, i am out of pocket, with a devalued item, with part of the package missing, they will not get their refund money now.

Thanks for the tips, removing pay pal from direct debit on my bank account was the best idea.

Perhaps you didn't read what was said above, they will hound you for the money.....I didn't see anyone give you the tip to remove your details, that does nothing to stop them.

You need to challenge it or take it via a legal route, not bury your head and laugh that you have outwitted them, you haven't!

They can hound all they like i will not give them money, if i do i won't be able to pay bills or eat or pay rent, and i will be saying its fine to send back a damaged item and i will still give a refund. Well its not fine, they can pay the court costs if they really want to go through the courts.

As its a money saving website i think i saved myself some cash by not rolling over and giving in to eBay and its awful decisions or policies. Thanks for your warning.

By how much has the phone been devalued?

You now have the money and the devalued phone so, unless the phone is worthless, you are now better off than you were before which is not right.

Where is the "roll over" advice. Perhaps you are reading posts none of us can see, are they with the posts telling you to remove your details for the DD?

It is up to you what you do, but why come and ask for advice? Not one person has said do a runner and as Avoriaz says, you are now in a better position than you were before the sale, which is not right,

Perhaps we should start a blank thread for you to update later when you want more advice on how to fend off the hassle :)

You added a % of waste and loss in your business plan. It gets thrown into that pile.

If your selling for profit then you need to add enough to cover losses.

Partially why some people make a loss on ebay or in real life. A mate started making items to sell on ebay. I asked him the simple question of how much does it cost to make each item, And how much does postage and packaging cost. He didnt know.

How can you have a business and not know what your stuff costs.
