ABS fault on a Mini Cooper
Please assist, I just collected my car from a garage recommended by my warranty company on my Mini Cooper s, the car was not driving, it was taken in for diagnostic and they found that the clutch was worn, and the thermal housing was also cracked together with leakages from some water pipes, I paid £470 just for the diagnostics and £407 for the clutch and the water pipe repairs, and within a week of collecting the car, it is now showing me that there is a fault with the ABS, could not turn the steering wheel!!
Would like to know who is responsible for the repairs as I feel this should have been noted in the diagnostics!
Thanks

If it wasn't an issue last week then it can't be noted on the diagnostics so the bill lands in your lap.0

How is a faulty with the ABS linked to not being able to turn the steering wheel?
Electric rack? Electrical issue?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I think you may mean PAS - Power Assisted Steering and it's a well known Mini issue - the electric power steering pump fails on them. It might have been working fine last week and has now failed.
An ABS problem would have shown up as a warning light on your dash.0 -
I think the big question here for me is - you were recommended to a garage by your *warranty* company, but you paid for the repairs?
What's the point of the warranty then?
Another thing - £470 for diagnostics? By whom? The Queen?0 -

Quite, hardly surprising the maker of spare bog roll....sorry...warranty company recommend this compliant garage, not trading as Bodgit and Scarper by any chance?
Warranty company passes the buck, not a unique scenario.0 -
As stooby2 says, the power steering pump can fail at any time, usually without warning.
It is also possible that a supply fuse has gone, however, this will have gone because of a bad pump, changing it won't be a long term fix.

Thanks for all your replies, I called the garage and they came to collect the car, and have fixed it free of charge as they had left a few things lose, will take the car to BMW just to make sure things are in place this time round.0
