Hi, I switched from SSE to EDF's Blue+Price Promise December 2014, do I need to call SSE to let them know and cancel? Or EDF takes care of everything? (NB: today I got a letter from SSE with price increases for both gas & electric, perfect timing)

This is what it says on my newly opened EDF account:

Electricity
We expect your supply to start on 14/10/2013
You can see how it's progressing below

* Nearly there
Your contract is almost registered. There are just a few meter reading details we need to sort out. If you haven’t heard from us already, we’ll be in touch soon about these. Not long now.

Gas
We expect your supply to start on 21/10/2013
You can see how it's progressing below

* Registration in progress
We can now register your contract. We’ll also talk to your previous supplier to let them know you want to change.

    I think to remember EDF did everything for me. They transmitted the first (last) meter reading that I gave them to my previous supplier who then gave me a final bill. But if in doubt just phone SSE and ask.
    01/26: OD £1200 600, CC £3914 3317, family £3100, loan £5618 5306- total: £13832 12323, mortgage £58,243 £57,766

    All you need to do is input the meter readings into the EDF website when asked. They will take care of it all. All you need to do is wait for the bill from SSE, just keep an eye on your DD, are you in credit or debit ?
  • I'm in credit with SSE.

    So I don't have to cancel my direct debits with SSE either? I was thinking of doing that at the end of the month, after both contracts with EDF are registered.

    Might be a good idea to cancel so they cannot have another cheeky dip into your account but often they come up with the excuse that they cannot pay the refund back into the account if the DD is cancelled.

    You cancel your DD's after the final bill has been supplied and the last payment taken.
