Bank 7 day switch "guarantee"

As one of the Lloyds' customers who was dumped into TSB, I decided to switch my account and to take advantage of the 7 day guarantee. It was all supposed to go through yesterday but at the eleventh hour Lloyds bank blocked it and it all has to start all over again now. Apparently Lloyds and Santander have a computer glitch. Anybody else had the same problems?

If you have on-line banking check to see the state of direct debits as when I switched from Smile to Santander the DDs vanished from the old Smile account around day 3 of the switch.
I also had a problem in that I once had an Abbey mortgage and Santander took over Abbey... Santander had my full name but Smile only had a middle initial listed on their system giving a miss-match of the names which prevented the switch even starting until I took a passport and bank card to a Co-Op branch to have them alter their records.
You need to phone Santander's switching team and find out the reason as to why it seems to have ground to a halt. If you don't enjoy free calls to their silly 0845 number, go via their switchboard and ask for the switching service. There are several geographic phone numbers on the Santander web site under "contacting us from abroad", most will happily put you through to the switching service.0 -

Don't understand how Santander come into this. What switch do you want to make? TSB to Lloyds? TSB to Santander? Lloyds to Santander? Santander to Lloyds? What reason have you been given by Lloyds for the blocking?0 -
I am switching from Lloyds TSB to Nationwide but both Lloyds and Santander have glitches on their systems and are blocking switches.0

Sorry if this sounds dim - but what have alleged Lloyds and Santander system glitches to do with you not being able to transfer from TSB to Nationwide?0 -

You are absolutely right - Lloyds, Santander and TSB are all having problems bedding down the new 7-day switching system. Not only are Lloyds Banking Group doing a large amount of the work manually (whereas others have got it automated), but, as you say, they are incorrectly rejecting certain switching requests. Last I heard, they don't know why certain switches are being rejected, and don't know how long before the problem will be fixed.
Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do apart from:
a) Submit another switching request. Most are still getting through successfully; or
b) Do the switch yourself, manually (i.e. phone up each direct debit company, tell your employer, etc).0
