what is this court like? is it fully enclosed by fencing with nothing around it? or is it a patch of tarmac with 2 hoops surrounded by grass and tree with benches to have picnics on?

i would be quite pleased if my house came with a free basketball court, even if i did have to share it

i dont think you would like a full size basketball court outside your house with kids doing drugs, having sex and damaging residents cars urinating and defecating in full view of your lounge patio doors

we were told to choose from 3 solicitors other wise it will hold up the sale and barratts could not monitor the transaction, i thought it was odd as solicitors would be working for me not barratts.
Strangley enough there is a mention of the 106 agreement in our solicitors pack but the page explaining it and descirbing what could be built was missing, and is also missing from many other residents who used the same barratts recommended solicitor.

the sales person was desportate to leave saying he wanted to go but couldn't move on until all houses were sold, we were even shown a 3d model of the area, my wife asked on multiple occasions if anything would be built on the area or if plans could change, each time we were told, No it will be a lovely scenic area very in keeping with the estate its all has to flow and look nice for everyone. This is not what we go, we actually could not believe what was constructed months after we moved in and the sales office had closed.

council plans show clearly a basketball court dimensions etc tears before we even walked into the sales office, i want to know why at no point were we not shown these plans to make an informed buying choice. We did not have to buy this property and feel that some one held back the information and lied to us. Barratts said it was down to the council and not them, however the plans were drawn up and requested by the council years before we purchased but barratts build the area so did know all about it, they still own it as the council will not adopt it due to the massive anti social aspect of the area.
  • the basketball court is surrounded buy a steel structure, and some shrubs that get pulled up and thrown onto residents drives, the place is covered in litter and half eaten food, there is one bin provided but no one uses it. Residents have been physically threatened and teenagers sit in each hoop and take turns trying to kick a ball at the person in the hoop to knock them out. There is a full size basketball court 3 mins away at the local park, so i am at a loss as to why this is needed in a quiet new residential development. No one plays basketball just football and a place to hang out and get drunk etc. In the councils original 106 plans it states they wanted a place for teenagers to meet and hang out, it barratts has shown us this document we could have made a choice !
  • so not much help on this topic then ?
