Worcester Bosch 29cdi classic?

Hi, sorry I have posted so many questions about installing a new boiler:o

Well, I think we are leaning towards a combi and are looking at this boiler. Really like the idea of hot water on demand and extra pressure on our hot upstairs water.

Any opinions please?

I am driving myself mad reading reviews on every brand of boiler, head is spinning!!

Thanks.

WB boilers are quite good. I've got a 30CDi combi and it does the job well. Plenty of hot water whenever you want it - although you do have the run the tap for quite a few seconds before you get hot water in Eco mode, otherwise you can set it to keep some hot water 'on tap' but that uses up more gas.

They come with a good warranty and i've actually had WB out twice under the warranty for problems that turned out to be totally unconnected with the boiler. I got very good service from them and their customer service line is quite efficient too.

I've got a 'rain' showerhead that's basically a huge disc that produces a rainfall effect when you shower. The boiler drives this shower without any problems.

How will a combi supply 'extra pressure upstairs'?
Is your property even suitable for a combi, as determined by your RGI doing a site survey to check your mains flow rate and pressure?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Because our hot and cold taps on the bath run from the tank in the airing cupboard/ loft. Pressure everywhere else is fine.
  • We had a WB 34cdi installed 2 weeks ago after putting up with over 2 years of our old 28kw Halstead constantly going into lockout (including mid-shower) and taking several minutes to produce hot water.

The change is incredible. We hadn't actually appreciated that a new boiler could give us faster hot water so that was a very pleasant surprise. Less time waiting to shower but also actually washing your hands in hot water.

We got a 7 year warranty with ours.

The only bad thing is that after 2 years of checking the boiler all the time to make sure it wasn't on lock out we still haven't got used to not having to do that!
  • you could have used a candle under a pan of water & it would have been better than a Halstead
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

Thanks, we have had several quotes and the ones shown on the WB site have come in several hundred pounds more. Spoke to WB and they said it's a 5 year warranty from any fitter.

We have a 29cdi junior. Good boiler and much smaller but more powerful than the wb 240 we had for 15+ years. Replaced under warm front scheme for my parents house 2 years ago. No problems. We did have our mains water changed in 1995 (blue pipe) to facilitate increased pressure. Make sure you have goods main pressure. Also make sure you have goog had pressure. The gas inlet had to be bigger on our new boiler to accommodate increased gas pressure.
