    back to the main problem, there's a ton of bloat running at startup, many relating to chat and possibly webcam functions, which could be conflicting by locking the camera driver open

    try disabling

    as mentioned before, machine might run better without ZA and forcefield running, amongst many other things

    I have tried disabling everything in start up menu, except avast and everything in service tab except windows files and avast and result was still the same.

    What would you suggest I use instead of ZA?

    try uninstalling and reinstalling the camera driver - disable first, to be sure that it's not another webcam driver causing the error

    I didn't think Windows Firewall was very secure?

    Right I disabled driver and then uninstalled it. Restarted laptop.

    Can't find right driver from dell website to install, but it appears to be working now, using a generic driver I think, not totally sure.

    Picture doesn't seem to be as sharp and crisp using this driver, but at least it's working.

    we've had the firewall discussion before, ZA and outbound firewalls are a sledgehammer to crack a nut imo, and are detrimental to the performance of the machine
