Help to buy? Yes please, say bankers!

So far as I know, interest rates look like being higher on Help to Buy deals. Probably because the whole idea looks pretty dodgy.

The lower the interest rate means more can be borrowed so the the higher the rate it will restrict the amount that can be borrowed which isn't a bad thing.
After all you're one of the ones thinks that it will end in tear, you seem to be contradicting yourself Big T.0 -
The last time?!?! Isn't it the first time Help to Buy has been introduced?
There have been several schemes since 2008 which were supposed to promote some kind of economic recovery. So far, only the banks have seen any benefit.

Errrr maybe so that it makes it more difficult to borrow large debt...

Like I said, the most likely beneficiaries from Help to Buy are the banks.

Yes true. There have been many put in place since the 1970s with varying levels of success and failure.
IMHO, there have been two major changes in UK society since the invention of socialism. The first was in the post-war period, and the second was in the post-Thatcher period. Arguably, both changes were allowed to exceed their usefulness, because of the vested interests which emerged. Thank god we managed to avoid Stalinism etc.

This thread, and others, say it all really.
Those for it, at those who want to see higher prices.
Those against, are those who don't.
Theres loads more froth inbetween, but the basic love of Help to Buy comes from those who wouldn't touch it, but are happy it exists as it will only make their houses worth more.
Therefore, the merits of the scheme are a by product to many on here, of little relevance. EVERY scheme which has been put forward that might push prices up has been "a good scheme" every single time to the same people every time.0 -
