Start Menu - Programs - No Programs?

Hi

I run Windows ME and my program files have disappeared from my startup menu.

It has the Programs bit, and an arrow, which only takes me to startup and no programs - I had loads before...

All the programs are still on the PC, but the start menu has none.

Any idea how I can restore it?

Can you get into the control panel and try creating a new account? If you can then build a new account, reboot and log into it, if the menu is there then your profile is corrupt.

I could try and geta new account....would I not lose my files etc though?

I'm trying an anti virus now

EDIT - Other person in house has tried their windows screen on same PC and they have all there program files.

I have all my programs, I just can't get them via my start menu

Tried new screen, but didn't work.

Anyone else have any ideas?

I haven't lost any programs, just the ability to go to start - program files - then choose my program

Try using system restore to go back a day or two: Start - Run - rstrui.exe - OK.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have a bigger problem now - i've lost my user profiles/accounts, although all the files on them are still on my PC and I can't get them
