Hey Sammy glad you have an NCT sale near....be warned they do get manic! I have sold all sorts in the past...toys go well, I have sold jigsaws, dolls house people and furniture, bikes, pushchairs, Polly pocket, bundles, railway track....you would be surprised what proves popular.Do you have to pay a percentage or just table price? I sold a coupe car and balance bike for the same price I paid!
Jammy - have been looking out bits and pieces , have even got Ben upstairs sorting through his toys to see if he has any sets I can put together - he has a lot of wrestlers / rings etc that can all get grouped together as one thing which Im sure will go and have another good few bags of toys that I am hoping to sell on. I have three matching baby gates so I will make sure to bag up the loose bits and the little spanner assembly things that go with them too. also have a couple of old bikes as well which I may take with me
Its a £5 registration fee but you get £2.50 returned if you provide a cake for the refreshments table.

Hi Sammy_Kaye, I'm another one who always used to like to see how you were getting on. Sorry that things are hard for you at the moment butyou seem to be coping well. I'm sure the NCT sale will go well for you. People are bound be looking for bargains at this time of the year. Ring the water board and see if something can be done.

    Hi Sammy,

As you have now had some input from the Old stylers I have moved your thread over to the debt free wannabe board to see if you can get more advice.

  • Hi Sammy,
I tried a couple of those "we buy books" sites- the ones where you put in the barcodes and they rejected every one of my books. I then put them for sale on Greenmetropolis which dont reject any. I`ve only actually sold 6 over 18 months, so its not a get rich quick solution but in my case its more a case of wanting to declutter.

Your water costs seem very high. Have you got a meter?
We changed to a meter and saved nearly half of our monthly bill.

    Hi Sammy
I have often followed your posts in the post, and thought you are quite inspirational.
I too have had Labarynthitis, the first time was the worst, I can honestly say I'd rather give birth with no pain relief!
I didn't feel well, but was trying to iron my work uniform, and just fell to the floor the whole room was spinning my OH dragged me to the settee and I just gripped onto it, the settee felt like I was on some fast fair ground ride, I was spinning, and the room, and the settee-doctor came and injected me with something.
I have every sympathy with you.

Please go to CAB if you can- they are able to help with Welsh Water arrears. Something similar to Water Assistance fund, but different.

My son & family are struggling, and he told me recently that he's started picking up those huge sacks of spuds -that come up to about your knee's, think he gets one for about £8.
They keep it in the dark & cold in the shed, and just bring in enough for a few meals at a time.

I've got veg lasagne cooking as we speak this morning I looked in the fridge and saw some sorry bits of various veg, so I chopped them all up, threw them in the slow cooker with whole baby tomatoes-going soft, and a drizzle of olive oil.
When I came home they were really roasted, used them as a substitute to meat in the lasagne with home made cheese sauce with some reduced cheese from Li*l.

Sammy you've gone through a lot and come out the other end a stronger person, as you will this time.

Will be following this thread & offering any support I can, a virtual hug to you and the little'uns.

    xxxxxx:)

I did find half my books were rejected as well and considered doing a boot sale to see if I can shift a few of them or may take them to the NCT sale.
No, no water meter but will be ringing water company tomorrow to see what they suggest and if no luck Ill be going to see the CAB

    Thanks lovely
I wouldnt wish Labyrinthitis on my worst enemy I think it is the worst illness I have ever had and I agree - Id rather give birth with no pain relief than ever experience this again and my two kids were 9lb 7 and 8lb 11.5 :eek::eek::eek:
First time I had it I was sat on the sofa trying to eat a bowl of soup and it literally felt like someone had spun me round in circles and I was dizzy but I was sat still on the sofa.....I did the same - laid down and held on. I was alone in the house with my two kids (9 and 3) and my son had to ring my mother in law who literally lives across the road to come over. She rushed me to the doctors who thought it was anxiety and did a load of blood tests - it took me 4 weeks to get a diagnosis from him just looking at me (no examination or medication) and then another 3 before a new doctor actually examined me properly and confirmed it and treated me with medication but by then the nausea and dizzyness are passing. Been two weeks and I feel much better than I did but touch wood I never want this again.

Think my next saving will be a new slow cooker - my daughter knocked the ceramic bowl of mine of the dish rack and it smashed to bits - it was a bit too small anyway so could do with a new one.

Yesterday I handed in my notice to work due to ill health. I think thye have suspected for a while that I wouldnt be returning. Funny how being poorly puts things in perspective but with the anxiety and Laby its just made me realise that my work was the main stress factor - it really isnt a nice place to work, some people are ok but the abuse I get at 11pm at night for refusing drunks alcohol just isnt worth it anymore.

Have a dodgy :grouphug: looking hug back toozie and I hope things brighten up soon. x right off to update my blog. x

I've had my slow cooker for quite a few years, think it came from Tesco and was about £12, it's the 3L oval one.
So it will fit a whole chicken.

You will know when they mark the prices down for the last time in Co-op then?
Would it be worth you popping in around then.........if you are still going to pop in there at all?
Can't say they have been very fair at all, but sometimes after you have left you realise that a job was causing you more stress then you actually thought whilst you were in it.

You used to be quite lucky with competition's, when your feeling better, if you start entering again, maybe you could sell the wins on ebay, or keep them for pressies?

Have you got the house draft proofed for the winter? I've just bought a lovely thick door curtain from a "local" hospice charity shop for £3.

Nice to see you again Sammy. Sorry to hear about your troubles, but you're a strong woman and you'll get through this.

With regards to selling stuff, I was wondering if your local Freecycle group has a buy and sell group. The Bridgend Freecycle group does and I've got a feeling the Swansea one might have (it's been a while since I was on the Swansea group, so I don't remember if it did or not!)
Worth checking out though, as it would mean you could sell stuff without the fees that sites like ebay would charge you.

Wishing you all the best. x
