Hello Sammy_Kaye, sorry to hear that things aren't good for you at the moment. You mentioned wanting to sell books - I used a company called Zapper who were easy to deal with, though they didn't pay a great deal. Maybe you could look at a couple of these sites when you feel up to it, to compare?

I am glad you are nearly finished with wonga, they are nothing more than loan sharks feeding off of the most vulnerable
Do you have a credit union close to you? They are a much better option plus it means that you will have a savings account as well.
I do have a credit union account in our local post office but have no funds in there at present - Im thinking it might be worth saving in there again though as more an emergency/rainy day fund.
The Loan I have with the Coop is also the Cooperative Credit Union as well

I have had a look on Zapper - I started to list a few books and then noticed they did DVD's so I went between Music Magpie, Zapper and We buy DVDs and put all the DVDs I had aside to sell in and whichever site offered me the best it stayed on their list - I managed to get £19.33 for 37 items - Im wondering if thats good or if Im better off doing a car boot sale with them. Also I have books to do but at that point Holly decided to try and help so I will tackle that later when she isnt about :rotfl:

    Hi Sammy

Like you I suffered with a bad case of labyrinthitis a few years ago and it is really really horrible. I found that when the original virus cleared up I was still so anxious about going out that I started to suffer with severe anxiety symptoms which was just as debilitating. Watch out for this and push for further advice/tests if it doesnt seem to be clearing up. If I had got help sooner I would have got better quicker.
On the upside labyrinthitis is something that does go away eventually so hang in there. I was about 8 months before I was 100% better but have had no problems for years now.
YorkshireLass - I can completely sympathise with the not wanting to go out - I could barely walk my son half way to school without having an anxiety attack and going dizzy - and I was almost beside myself when my daughter started nursery as the day I went for her induction I sat in the chair, had a huge anxiety attack whichI think I controlled quite well, but when I stood up to go and look round the nursery with her I thought I was about to pass out I went so dizzy. I literally grabbed her and ran away as fast as I could. thankfully it seems to be easing now and I am able to walk her into school and stand in the yard for a little bit with no issues and I can even stand in the crowd for 5 waiting for my son. But I would never wish this virus on anyone and I dont care to ever have it again. Funny how most people you speak to say theres passes within 2/3 weeks though - Ive had mine since August 3rd and only now Im starting to feel human but I completely understand the agoraphobia aspect.
Will be re-doing the entitled to page later :)

Hi there Honey long time no see, sorry to hear about your troubles. We are all here to help if we can, even if its only to say a quick hug and a there, there,.Life really does give you a jolt now and again but keep hanging in there and hopefully things will turn the corner again.
I too would keep the credit in the utilities if only for a 'just in case ' scenario of a hard winter.I live in the south east and so far its not been too bad but I am like a squirrel and like to try to build up a store or stock against the bad weather I too am in credit with EDF but it can stay there as if we get a cold snap after Christmas then I know I can be warm without thinking about the bills.
The £7.00 forum is full of ideas and also www.agirlcalledjack has lots of ideas on how to make a pound do the job of three.Good luck homney I do hope you get to feel a bit better soon and life improves for you
    Cheers JackieO in Kent xxx

Hello JackieO - lovely to see you again. How have you been? keeping well I hope. I will make sure to have a look on those pages and yes I have made the decision after a particularly windy night to keep my money in the fuel accounts. I would only find myself struggling with a bill after Xmas and at the minute my neighbour who my house is attached to isnt home - last year she had her heating on constantly due to her health issues so we stole a degree of her heat - but at the minute she is in hospital so her house is sat cold.....
    :(

So Im starting to get the feeling that God thinks I need these kinds of struggles to remind me just how strong I am.

Had a lovely letter from the Welsh Water Association today telling me that because I got behind on one payment of my water bill – that’s £66.39 in case people didn’t know – that I now need to pay the full balance of £398.39

Really?…..yes I’ll just go and prune the money tree in my back garden and you can have it this evening once I put it into my bulging bank account….. :-( There isn’t even a pay in instalments option or an ‘if you cant afford to pay this total’ option…..so I think a phone call is in order later.

Also I have sat with my partner and my best friend who works in employment law and discussed my work options. As far as Labyrinthitis goes – it is an illness that can reoccur if I get another virus (ie a cold/flu etc) and it can take me even longer to get properly better as I had no treatment with it for the first 7 weeks I was ill thanks to a doctor who seems to be able to diagnose you from just looking at you…..but the second doctor I went to who I chose to go to as a second opinion actually fully examined me and did the balance tests etc so I stuck with her after (thank you Dr Bashir) but it can mean I have damaged the inner ear and so could feel dizzy for months still. Also Labyrinthitis makes anxiety attacks several times worse along with stress which will only prohibit me getting better and my triggers for dizzy fits are strip lights, computer screens (although thankfully this is going) and crowds…..it means I need to go away and lay down until I get my balance back or my head clears of the foggy feeling…..again not ideal working in a supermarket where I cant just run away. My panic attacks have been stopping my working for the last few months before I was ill though since my brother passed away in April….so it was not the best atmosphere for me at that moment in time anyway so I think I have made the best option for me at this minute that is to write my letter and hand in my notice. Rather than force myself back to work, make myself iller again and go through this whole process again. It will also give me more time with my family, more time to be frugal and to focus on my crafting and just in general a slower pace of life which will remove unneeded stress and hopefully mean my panic attacks will subside again.

Also Owen noticed yesterday that his gym who he wrote to in February to leave have been charging him still the monthly fee. This is £29.99 a month for the last 8 months. So when he noticed yesterday he rang to tell them and they have agreed to give him a refund for it. That’s £239.92……so we are going to hopefully go today on the way to collect the sewing machine.

Have become very addicted to Freecycle and Bay Crazy lately…..I would recommend a look.

For those of you who are wondering Bay Crazy is a local site that basically lists all the items that are being sold on Ebay that are ‘collect in person’ only so they may not sell as people cant collect etc. Other option on the site is for mistyped products which is also work a look

I have recently has a FREE fish tank with gravel and food on there as no one would collect it. Planning it to be a Christmas present for my 9 year old who is desperate for a new pet since he lost his rabbit at the beginning of the year.

(NOTE: he will be getting the tank/gravel/food/filter etc for Christmas and we will be setting it up and then taking him to pick a fish after Christmas)

Also I was pointed in the direction of a NCT Nearly New Sale by Jammygal that is being held in Swansea in November. I was given a big bag of baby clothes for my sister when my niece was born – they are all in good condition/washed etc.

I have an old baby bath/top and tail bowl/big bag of children’s books/a spare baby gate and will be going upstairs soon to dejunkify my son and daughters bedroom – I know Holly has a good few toys in her room that she doesn’t play with – like a rocking horse, a ride on motorcycle, a ‘my first pushchair’ etc and my son rarely plays with any of his toys now as he is 9 years old and far more interested in his XBOX than much else.

There is a £5 deposit for your table but you get £2.50 back if you provide a cake/biscuits for the refreshment stall to sell. Im thinking a batch of Twinks Hobnobs might go down nicely.

So I’m hoping that could make us a few pennies as well as helping to de-clutter the house a bit if I can ask my mother in law nicely to babysit the kids and if Owen will take me over to help set up etc. May not make a fortune but at least its worth a try and if items don’t sell then I may consider doing a car boot sale with them to see if I can get a few pennies back.

I went out last night too with Ben to deliver more Avon books so I’m hoping that I will get a few more orders from the street. It was blowing a gale though and has been all night. Winter is most definitely on its way to the point I have put the fire on two bars to warm the living room up this morning.

Right, time to go and get myself some breakfast, make a start on some competitions, maybe tackle a bedroom later and then make a food list.

Hope your all having a good day and I’ll let you know how I get on

    Sammy

Hey Sammy glad you have an NCT sale near....be warned they do get manic! I have sold all sorts in the past...toys go well, I have sold jigsaws, dolls house people and furniture, bikes, pushchairs, Polly pocket, bundles, railway track....you would be surprised what proves popular.Do you have to pay a percentage or just table price? I sold a coupe car and balance bike for the same price I paid!

In regard to the baby gates etc....they will go well but try and bag the loose fittings to ensure they don't get lost and if you do have any instructions bung them in the bag too:)
