I'm very new to this and trying to see if it is a good alternative to M Money.
I downloaded a qif file from a bank and again a few days later for newer transactions. I was disappointed to find that copies of previous transactions were included that had to be deleted manually.
Is there a way to stop copies-or at least get them to merge. M Money handles it fine.

If your bank supports it, switch to OFX or QFX.
If your bank only supports QIF, switch banks.
QIF is a horrible file format. Whoever invented it needs to be taken outside and shot.0
