selling essays on ebay

Options
I'm considering selling my old uni essays on ebay. They are all A grade and would be useful for some one as a guide. (Of course I don't support plagerism!). I worked hard on them so why shouldn't I benefit now I've finished uni! On the other hand I feel a bit strange about it.. but not sure why. Has anyone here sold theirs?

What subject matter are they, nursing essays seem to sell well on ebay.

It's a bit of a contentious issue in the Press at the moment, and Google have recently announced they will not accept advertising from essay-writing businesses.

I am not aware of any specific rules that eBay have saying you can not sell them (and you are the copyright holder after all!), but I suspect that you may "Outrage" some Daily Mail readers who will have no hesitation in reporting the listings to eBay under some technicality.

eBay tend to pull listings, then send automated responses to any questions you may have. If you do list them, use a separate account, and if they get pulled, be very wary of re-listing them. If one account is permanantly suspended, you will not be able to use the others.

Personally speaking, I have "consulted" on essay writing for others, but never actively sold my own work, or extensively written anything for anybody else. I would rather help somebody learn and understand the subject, rather than copy text without really grasping the concept of what they are actually saying.

Ok sorry about this but..... I worked hard on getting a grade in life sciences and I think that if people do buy it they should be banned from their course as it is CHEATING. I still have all my studies in a big box but wouldnt even give them away never mind selling them. I know this is harsh but i don't believe anyone should get anything in life by cheating their way through it.

as someone who marks undergrad work, i'd plead with you not to sell them because there are so many students who think it is ok to copy things word for word (and who think wikipedia is better than a textbook lol). as a money saver i'd say sell to the highest bidder and get some cash for your hard work - if someone's stupid enough to copy it then they will probably be caught (especially as they won't get all their essays from you and a mix of marks will make people look closely!).

it may be worth signing up to tutor people instead - you can get hours that suit you, usually evenings and weekends, and it pays well. then you can help teach students (prob a level) and make money and not get involved in a moral quagmire! can't think of any agencies off the top off my head, but post or PM if you're interested and i'll dig up some names!

The other option if you wanted to put a bit of work into it and reap longer term benefits is to create your e-Book of study guides to sell on e-Bay.

Creating an ebook is pretty much the same as a normal word document, and the software is available for free download - http://www.ebookmaestro.com being one of many. Use your essay structure as a contect template for the guide, and use quotes from it instead verbatim sections.

Create a groovy cover for free http://ebook-cover-maker.safe-install.com , then sell it on eBay.com using the digital download facility to automatically email it to your buyers. http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/selling-digital-items.html explains more.

Using a few of the eBay selling tools, this can be a truly automated process, continually relisting, automatically sending invoices, receive paypal funds, buyer downloads product, leaves feedback, feedback automated. All you need to do is empty your paypal account regularly!

You can also include some afiliate-sales links in the ebook to open more revenue opportunities after the initial purchase - particularly handy if your eBook gets passed around in the future! If you have a good subject knowledge, a touch of creativity and good presentation, ebooks can be very, very profitable.

I have bought essays of ebay, not to copy but to see how to write essays at degree level. I bought essays in the same field, but wrote mine on completely different subjects, but used the ones I'd bought as a guideline.
    I don't consider it CHEATING.
I don't consider myself to be cheating my way through my degree, and feel the essays I bought gave me a direction to work in and a level to work at.
I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

  • OP is free to sell their work, but can you really be sure that the essay will be used by the buyer merely as a guide and not be copied word for word to achieve an A grade?

It's for this reason that I wouldnt sell any of my work, also have many box's full of assignments as well as many floppy disks, flash drives full to capacity, but would never sell my hard work so someone can achieve the same grade without putting in anywhere near the amount of effort i did.

This is exactly the reason why people should be selling essays and assignments. People get a good "idea" of subject content and the essay format - after all sample exam papers and answers are readily available. I think you are doing the right thing - don't feel you have cheated!

sadly not all students are as honest as you..... there is a major problem in universities with plagarism.... although just because something can be misused, it doesn't mean it should be banned for everyone. some people copy directly from text books (as if the marker won't have read the standard text books!) and we could hardly ban them..... it's a shame some students are abusing other people's work but there's no obvious solution!
