If you're on EDF even just switched CHECK AGAIN!

I was on EDF's September 2013 Price Promise which obviously has just ended. I opted to switch to the September 2014 Price Promise which meant my tariff went up in price but at least avoided any for this winter.
HOWEVER I've just discovered that they have discontinued that tariff now and started Price Promise March 2015 - It is even (for me) £12 a year cheaper!
I called and have checked everything and it is indeed a cheaper tariff with another winter locked in!
It's a bit crafty what they've done by the looks of it - they knew all us September 2013 people were coming to an end so set up a new offer to sign us up for one winter, then once we've all switched to Sep 2014, they can get a new unbeatable offer for everyone else hoping that we don't notice!
AND because it's their own tariff they don't have to tell us that it's £1 a month cheaper!
If you're on the Price Promise (Obviously not the Price Freeeeeeze) then log on and check the change tariff section - you might find you can make a small saving and fix for another winter (Judging by SSE's announcement today, maybe a good idea!)

Your conspiracy theory only works if they'd already planned out PP March 2015 before they set out the options for the end of PP Sept 2014.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thank you very much for that. Cheeky B@ast@rds. I checked and the fixed March 2015 deal will actually save me about £5 a month based o my last months usage. So I'll see that I get onto that one. Thanks a million
EDIT Actually, the bills would be the same for us (looked at the wrong unit price for leccy as I apparently count as north Scotland ??) but as you say fixed for another winter.03/26: OD £1200 600 500, CC £3914 3317, family £3100, loan £5618 5306 5036- total: £13832 12323 12003, mortgage £58,243 £57,766 571140 -
The Blue Price Promise March 31st 2015 tariff was available during Sept 2013 but at that time it was more expensive than it is now.
The original Blue Price Promise March 31st 2015 tariff was more expensive than the September 2014 Price Promise that you switched to.
However on 03/10/2013 the structure of EDF's fixed prices was changed and there are now no separate dual fuel and DD discounts.
The discounts are now built into the unit costs, where there is a DD unit cost and a cash/cheque unit cost.
After this structural change the Blue Price Promise March 31st 2015 tariff became cheaper than September 2014 Price Promise, so you are wise to switch.0 -

Ok, but wouldn't the 2015 be then more expensive? Example: my leccy unit costs now 13.72p/18p SC but I get a DD and dual fuel discount on the whole bill, whereas the 2015 unit costs more 13.9p/18.5p SC and that's it. But then I guess the gas units are cheaper in the 2015 deal (2014 3.945p/25p SC vs 2015 3.5p/26.25p SC) and they matter most in our house over the winter. I guess in our case it works out about the same and we get the added security of another winter.03/26: OD £1200 600 500, CC £3914 3317, family £3100, loan £5618 5306 5036- total: £13832 12323 12003, mortgage £58,243 £57,766 571140 -

I think you're comparing pre VAT prices with VAT prices ?0
