Npower switching tariff online
Hi. I am on Energy Online Oct 13 tariff which comes to an end on 31/10/13. I have had the usual letter telling me they will switch to standard tariff on that date if they dont hear from me before. Today I have decided to go for the Online fixed Nov14 so tried to call them today but after waiting approx 30 minutes was unable to connect on 3 occassions. So my question is can I switch tariff online. I have checked their website and its not specific so I logged onto my account and managed to get a quote but when I go through the process of applying there is not an option to pick a start date so presuming tariff change would start immediately. If I go through this route will I have to pay penalty charge for ending my existing tariff early. I am not happy to go into a very long telephone queue again

Don't bother trying to do it by phone, as yr stress levels and phone bill will rise exponentially!
Join Martin's free energy club, log your current provider and usage details and then you can do the switch there, hopefully earning some cashback too:D
Im currently doing the same at this moment in time (SP online deal ends 31 oct 13 and switching to EDF for two years methinks) and should get £30 cashback after about 6 weeks i think).
I understand that yr old provider and new will each contact you on change (email probably easier) and new service may take few weeks to start - but check details on provider you choose to go with0 -
Hi, yes you are right about stress levels. Cant believe there is no way you can do it online at the right date especially as its impossible to get them on the phone.
I have joined Martin free energy club and have decided to stay with Npower but I could not do the switch there because I couldnt state the date of the switch so I would have been stuck with a penalty charge if I did it now.
I didn't want to wait until 1/11/13 incase they discontinued the tariff I want so I managed to send them an email via my online account stating the switch date so hopefully they will act on that.0 -
I have switched onto this tariff (hopefully) 1 week on no written confirmation.
I got my bill from Npower this week and they have made some mistakes on it. I rang them someone answered but only took my details as they were 'busy'.
I'm assuming a few people have got incorrect bills etc....making them busy

Hello seh567,
If you change tariff before 31/10/13 the product you are on has no early exit fee, it only applies if you changed supplier.
If you are having difficulties changing your tariff online you can email me at the address on my profile page with your account details and I can look at changing you over.
Thanks
Carmel

Hi Carmel
Thankyou for confirmation. Unfortunately I cannot email you as your profile link only takes me into Npower website and there is no email address link.
Not to worry I have sent an email yesterday via my Npower online account so hopefully it will be acted upon although I have not had notification of receipt yet0
