Hi
I am using Outlook and it is all fine, with one exception. When I receive an e-mail with a link on which to click it won't take me to the site.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Does this apply? http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2003/ol2003sp2.htm0

I have had a look and I can't find the preferences option for junk mail. Therefore, not sure this is the problem. Damned frustrating!0

Are you using Outlook or Outlook Express? The link above is for the former, however the instructions are not quite correct. It's Tools - Options - Preferences - Junk Email. Are you getting the 'Click here to turn on links' message as noted in my link?0

Sorry, it is Outlook Express (didn't realise they are different animals!). No, I am not getting the 'Click here to turn links on message'. There is just nothing, I hover over the link, get the hand, click and nothing happens.
I have searched high and low but can't find any help on the net.
I really appreciate your help, this is a small thing but it is driving me mad!0 -
Does your Browser work okay??
I have seen this in the past where IE would open okay, but clicking links would not work. You had to manually copy & paste the address for it to work.
That was a browser issue so may not be your problem but try this:
Go to Start => Run
and type
REGSVR32 urlmon.dll
and hit enter.0 -
That is exactly the problem - IE is fine and yes, I have to manually copy and paste to make links work. Will give the above a try.
Done that - got a succeeded message
Not resolved the problem though. 0 -
I just had a poke about as I couldn't recall if you had to reboot afterwards or not (I didn't think you did)
I found the Microsoft Question regarding this which has a few more solutions (the one I gave earlier is the only one I have ever needed)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281679When you click a hyperlink in an e-mail message or on a Web page, or right-click a hyperlink on a Web page and then click Open in New Window, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:
Basically, the same process as before but using these instead of Urlmon.dll
• Mshtml.dll
• Actxprxy.dll
• Oleaut32.dll
• Shell32.dll
• Shdocvw.dll0 -
From Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options, Advanced Tab then click on reset and this will reassociate links in Outlook Express so that they open in IE, this will also set IE7 back to run once so just follow the couple of questions as before, In IE6 just click on Tools, Internet Optons, Programs Tab, Reset Web Settings.0

HUGE thanks to both CHR 15 and Asus Mobo. Problem is now resolved. I checked those dll things and the one that was causing the problem was the Mshtml.dll one. I then reset IE and bingo! Job done.
So thanks to all that have taken the time and trouble to help me. Have a beer on me
