any suggestions for purchasing plumbing/bathroom items?

Hiya

I'm not sure if I can ask this, or where to put it, so apols if I've done the wrong thing!

I had been looking at plumbworld.co.uk for buying some bits for my bathroom as their prices look good. Looking at reviews of the company however and they're pretty bad :(

So, what other online plumbing supplies places have you used and which ones are useful? Happy to trawl through several to find what I'm looking for :) I just don't know where to begin and a recommendation is always helpful!

what sort of things in particular are you looking for? I refitted my bathroom last year and didn't limit myself to one supplier. bath from one, shower from another, etc.

    Cheers

For the actual hardware, sinks, taps, heaters etc I apologise, but I haven't a clue - our builders left us a hefty tome of Sanitary Ware & told us to pick.

When it comes to decorating eg tiles I have one suggestion to pass on that worked very well for us - when you see something you like, get the full identification codes and names etc ect and then *Stop*.
  • Victoria Plumb are good, have used them a few times now and always been impressed, especially with the price. There taps etc although cheap in cost look expensive... Worth a look..

I used Plumbworld a couple of times and had brilliant service! Best price and good quality. We have finished two out of our three bathrooms and we are really impressed :)
  • I ordered a shower and 2 new loo seats from plumbworld late at night on Tuesday just gone and they were with us in thursday! So I would be happy to use them again. Sometimes it's easy to find negative reviews about a company and not find so many positive ones.

I ordered the shower, toilet and sink from liberty bathrooms and although I'm happy with the items (we needed a non standard size shower tray) I felt delivery was very slow (7 working days), and wouldn't use them if I was in a rush to get something.

One of the plumbers at work laughed when I mentioned Victoria plumb and said that I must be made of money to buy from them, so make sure you check prices elsewhere for comparable items if you do see something you like from them!

I ordered cabinets, loo & sink from a local retailer as they were the only ones to do aqua cabinets and also gave a discount. The remainder (taps from Hudson Reed, Clearwater fillers, Vado shower and waste, Roper Rhodes audio mirror. Reina designer radiator etc) I got from Heating & Plumbing Supplies. I just emailed my local branch and they gave me pretty much trade price - much cheaper than online and they delivered or I picked up the smaller items. See if you have a local branch (look at www.hpsmerchant.co.uk) or try your own local plumbing supplies as likely they will still give you a good discount. A local trades lighting company recommended by the bathroom retailer also gave us a good price on our led lights.
