hi,
.I had a car loan long story so wont bother you with details but did struggle to pay it and had to get an agreement set up continued to pay what was asked for a few years then payed it off in full when able. I knew this would affect my credit score . Earlier in year I was turned down for something and went to check my credit score . It was worse than ever .
It was showing two loans from santander for same amounts one settled and one not paid off and no payments made.
I only ever had one loan the one paid off,so I spoke to them they admitted it was an error and would rectify it.
Role foorward to now I check my score again and its even worse guess what still showing as un paid defaulted .
So I email them they again say we are looking into it we will write to you . Ive heard nothing so I think pen to paper time. What do I put and who do I write to . This has clearly effected my score and Im told as it stand no one will lend to me I wonder if thats why my car insurance hasnt gone down and how it would effect my ability to change phone providers. Also wondering if its caused me probs I wouldnt be aware of. I know the other loan one i paid back wont help but surely this just makes it a whole lot worse.
Advice please:mad:

Can't help you on that one.
But from now on I've now decided not to reply to any poster that mentions Experian's score.
It's getting beyond the Joke now.
Actually I'm leaving the forum see ya all laters.0 -

Wouldn't it be good if we all be perfect like you!? The OP looks to me to have been talking about a generic score, not the Experian number, but in any case, get off your high horse.0 -
OP - you do need to put it all in writing - I've had disputes with Sanatander before - I'm at work at the moment but when I get home I'll see if I have any addresses that would be useful for you.0

Think most people are getting a bit sick of your rude, unhelpful comments. Seems like you have nothing else to fill your day?
If it doesn't interest you and you can't help, then stay away.0 -
A lot of people use score to mean report too. I answered a question from someone on another site yesterday who was asking when a default would be removed from their score. I knew what they meant.
James“Official Company Representative
I am an official company representative of Experian. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

JamesYou might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
It amazes me the number of people who try and sort problems with financial institutions using phone or email.
You do indeed need to put pen to paper. Head your letter "FORMAL COMPLAINT". Send it recorded delivery. This puts it into a formal procedure whereby they must provide you with a written response within 8 weeks, after which you can go to the FOS if necessary.
The address (found on Santander's website) is:
Complaints, Santander UK PLC, PO Box 1125, Bradford BD1 9PG0 -
Satander list email as a valid way to complain.
Why not give the FOS a call presuming your first email on the subject was 8 weeks ago or more. Let the FOS give them a poke without wasting a stamp and several more weeks.:beer:0 -
Just because they list it as valid doesn't mean it's the best way to complain though. In fact their website positively encourages you to phone or email, finding the actual postal address took a little bit of digging.
The OP has telephoned, it was supposed to get sorted, but wasn't. They have emailed, received an acknowledgement, but nothing further.
The point I was making is that by sending a letter headed "FORMAL COMPLAINT" by Royal Mail Recorded Signed For you start the 8 week clock ticking at that point, and have a paper trail for when you need to escalate to FOS (or ICO, or whoever).0 -

At no point does the OP state they telephoned anyone!
Quote OP "So I email them they again say we are looking into it we will write to you ."
'Again' suggests to me that they probably emailed them the first time!
We live in the era of electronic communication. It's fast and it's free! It also provides a perfectly traceable 'paper' trail!
I also can't see Experian mentioned anywhere by OP for the rest that jumped on the 'score' bandwagon!
@juleswendy,
Firstly, did you email complaint first time & if so have you still got the emails?
Secondly, how long ago did they say they were looking into it?
Thirdly, which credit agency did you use to check report?
Personally I would check report with experian and equifax note the dates of when the loans were opened and any reference/account numbers. Also the dates of the default/arranged payments and settled dates.
If the reference numbers &/or dates are the same on both accounts ie both the defaulted & settled. I would also take this up with the credit agencies. They are notoriously ruled by the finance companies but still have a duty to look into misleading information. If you have the emails that you have sent/recieved from santander attach these & tell them you want the entries corrected. They have a duty to contact Santander and query it. They may not respond in your favour, however you are creating the 'paper' chain of evidence that you will need to take this FOS etc.
Also email santander, subject: FORMAL COMPLAINT it's free that way and also sets the 8 week time frame
Good luck0
