Hi all,
Thought I'd share my experience of opening new accounts at banks where I'd closed them down previously
Lloyds (Was Lloyds TSB when first opened)
Ran 1st account from 2008 - 2011. Paid salary in, no bounced DD's etc. Had retched CPD marker that was on everything so no OD etc. Couldn't even get a chequebook. Was pretty much told it wouldn't be removed so closed account.
Now got a new account with a chequebook (still not offering anything else but account is only 2 weeks old - so this may change once money goes in and out each month) - either that or I've no CPD against a chequebook lol - I have no idea if this is normal for a new account or not.
Santander
1st account was run from 2010 to 2011. Had supplementary money paid into it. Would only issue a Visa Electron card and no OD allowed. Also took an age to underwrite (about 2 weeks) - then closed as card was a PITA.
They've just opened a new account for me within 2 days no hassles and have given me a £1000 OD, even though I stated that my main income would not be paid into the account. Not had the card through yet, so unsure if I will get the dreaded "unembossed Visa Debit" card. I'm assuming that as I have been given an OD that I will get an embossed "normal" card?
In the last few years have really strengthened my credit history - all CC's paid in full (got some tidy cashback from it too!) - also got approved for a 10K loan in March which is being paid off nicely too (with Nationwide), so all is looking OK.
If anyone knows the Lloyds question about CPD on new accounts or my Santander Visa question please reply.
PS: I like the look of the new Lloyds debit card. Nice forest green colour. Better than that ghastly 2012 style card

I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Update: Santander have issued a full embossed MFC Debit. Thought it would be, seeing as they auth'd an OD this time.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019.
