Problem Neff Dishwasher

Hi,
I have a Neff Dishwasher. It was manufactured in 2004, model number S5457XOGB.
Recently, I have noticed that it has got noisier in operation. The Dishwasher has now stopped functioning.
When you switch the dishwasher on you can hear the pump dump any water that is in the dishwasher but it fails to start a wash cycle.
I have been doing some fault finding....
Initially I thought the aquastop was the culprit. But I have had the left panel off the dishwasher and can see water enter the manifold after the dishwasher has been switched on.
I have uploaded a video of the dishwasher in operation, which can be accessed here (http://youtu.be/-fQZ8p2yEJY)
Having read up a bit more on dishwashers and how they operate I am suspecting the main motor (recirculation pump) has failed. This would explain why the dishwasher got louder in operation before failing completely. The drain pump is working fine.
I thought I would post here for any advise before changing any parts.
Is there any way to test if the motor is working ?
Thanks in advance for any advice received.
James

Probably too late to help but we have just had a similar problem with our 6 year old Siemens dishwasher.
It was working but started making 'clunking' noises for a few days and then failed. It was pumping out OK but no water was running into the machine and although the cycle started it sounded as if it was pumping air. I tried manually adding water but it was just pumped out.
We had a local repair man in today who dignosed the problem which he says he frequently encounters. The pipe that goes from the base of the machine that takes the water that is continuously pumped to the spray arms gets blocked with an unpleasant slimy material. The pipe is flexible and was easily removed (after removing the dishwasher top, sides and panel behind the plinth). Holding it up to the light it was completely blocked but simply cleared (under the hot tap!). Once clear it felt much lighter!
Once reassembled it worked normally again..
When I asked if there was a way to make sure it didn't block again he could only recommend doing a hot intensive wash at least once a month with the machine empty - he hadn't found the dishwasher cleaners made any real difference.
