I can see it's a difficult situation but what money does she actually need if she's in hospital?

I can only guess if they signed a lease on flat for example. They could have commitments like mobile, rent and others.

I'm sorry that I can't post links at the moment but I have just read that she shoul be able to get her loan payments for 60 days after she has left uni for health reasons. Also she can get a further period of payment with evidence of her I'll health.

I think the best people to speak to is the welfare department at her university.

Apart from a phone, the rest is unlikely for a student.

You can still claim and be eligible for DLA but it won't be paid whilst in a funded hospital. The claim entitlement still remains in place though. Then you can claim and get ESA. My daughter is in a long term hospital placement and is entitled to DLA but doesn't physically receive it because her care and mobility is funded by the CCG. However she does get her ESA.

any claim would be for PIP and not DLA and the conditions are slightly different.
you cant claim for the first 3 months and have to expect to have the same level of care/movility needs for 9 months ( DLA was 6 months)

if the daughter is receiving treatment, it may be hard to establish that her needs in 6 months time are at the same loevel as they are today, as it would be expected that she will make improvements from the time treatment begins
