if mine ended November 2013 I would fix for the next year atleast !!
  • have no idea how much we will pay per year as have only been back in uk 2 months and using british gas dual fuel standard tariff. I feel we should go for a fixed term but if it takes 4 to 6 weeks to switch, and prices go up meantime will we be fixed at price quoted at date we request a switch or at actual date it happens?
Also I believe there is no cancellation fee on our current plan but do you have to remain a customer a certain period of time to avoid penalties?

Confused here to. With EDF Price Promise to April 2014 we are paying £1340 a year.
The EDF website says we'll pay £1404 a year with BIue+Price Freeeeze March 2017
MSE Energy club says we'll pay £1724 a year.

That's a difference of over £300. Which is correct?

EDIT: just got quotes from the EDF website itself.
To March 2015 quote is £1,492
To March 2017 quote is £1704
So I don't know where EDF gets the $1404 number from.

EDIT: the very cheap EDF quote of £1404 (to March 2017) comes from this page https://my-account.edfenergy.com/irj/portal/changeproduct
Has anybody else noticed this page being particularly cheap?
** I've just manually checked prices for March 2017 and the £1704 estimates are correct. My EDF "changeproduct" web page is way out of date.

Are you entering annual kWh usage? Monthly DD gives inaccurate results.

As long as your switch application is accepted before any announcement, you'll get that fixed tariff, even if the tariff is canned before you actually go on supply. A fixed tariff cannot be increased, it will simply be withdrawn to new applicants. There is never an ETC on Standard tariff.
Since you are currently on the most expensive tariff, I'd get on with it before the winter.
