Maglite torch bulb query

I have one of the large (12 inch) non-LED Maglite torches that has stopped working after being left in the attic for a few weeks. No idea what's wrong with it-no battery corrosion, tried new batteries-no luck, wondering whether it's the bulb (although it looks perfect). Anyway, nothing on the bulb to denote what wattage or what serial number or anything really to help me select the correct replacement. Does anybody know? It takes 2 x 1.5 volt 'D' batteries, if that's any help.
Really cheesed off as cannot understand how being left in the attic for a few weeks has finished off this supposedly 'super-tough' torch.
I have also had it in the airing cupboard for a few days (dismantled) in case it may have some condensation in it which may have been the problem, to no avail.
Thank you.

Maglite bulbs were always ... how can I put this kindly? ... "specialised".

Either LWSA-201 or LMSA-201.
It could be time to see if you can upgrade it to use LEDs.If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

most Maglites are LED these days very few placed still stock the bulbs.
Have you checked the base for the spare bulb? or has that been used up lobg ago? (Think most maglites had a spare bulb in the screw off battery cap).Laters

I'd have a look at the newer LED torches - I got a LEDLenser P7 for £40 with a free small torch as well. Brilliant thing, incredibly bright, uses AA's (or use good rechargeables). Seriously outclasses any maglite I've ever had, focussable beam, INCREDIBLY bright. Did I mention how bright it goes?0

You can change the standard bulb for an LED type - I have on mine. Halfords are pretty good for Maglite stuff - or eBay.0

I'd sling it and get an LED one. Loads on Ebay.
3W LED (or CREE) will give better light than the maglite, which is only any use as a cosh these days.0 -
You could try here if you don't want to upgrade :http://www.tooled-up.com/brandmicrocat/maglite/torch-bulbs/mgl/1673/0

First check if there is a spare bulb in the screwap lid - often hidden behind bit of sponge.
If not (and if you genuinely use it as a torch and not a handy weapon with a bulb - and many do) then as above bin it and switch to an LED.
I have an led lenser and its much better than the mag and a third of the size. I have upgraded my mag to led and lenser is still far better.
Halfords will sell you a replacement bulb but for the same price you could get a let for a tenner which would do a better job.
I chucked away some old bulbs a couple of weeks ago as halfords were clearing out the led replacements so picked some up for 50p each. They are all in torches otherwise would happily send one over.0 -
As others have already said, there should be a spare bulb inside the screw off battery cover behind the spring.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Thanks to all of you for your replies, it's great to get second opinions. No spare bulb on my model. I think I'll switch to LED.0
