Have you installed the latest driver for Windows 8?

Does it work if you connect the laptop to the printer/scanner with a USB cable? Assuming the printer will work both wirelessly and wired, of course

mine is the same, scanner wont work,

its because your laptop already has a scanner built in and you don't need to program your scanner in.

if you go into your programs on laptop and look for devices and printers you should be able to do it from there.
that's how mine works anyway, but it took me a while to sus it out.

    hope that helps
  • oh god you have confused me, now I will need to look and see but never knew laptop had scanners on them, lol learn something new every day, though saying that am really not keen on windows 8, x

Laptops don't have in built scanners. No such thing. Only scanner you will find on a laptop is a fingerprint scanner.

the scanner isn't in the laptop just the programing for your scanner to work. I have a hp all in one and the scanner would not work when I got my new lappy, so reloaded the disc for the hp all in one and it still didn't work, you have to work the scanner part from the lappy via devices and printers, I don't know why but I just do.

hope that has cleared the mud somewhat.:j

however all gadgets are different and work differently together but sounds as though you have it working somewhat anyway

You still need to install the scanner software that came with the device or download it. Only thing you may on your laptop, will a twain driver, which is a standard interface. But without the software loaded, cant scan anything.

This is an AIO device, not a standalone scanner? Are you trying to work the scanner wirelessly from the laptop? Not all AIO's support that. They will print wirelessly, but not necessarily scan.
The fact that it works fine when connected by USB would tend to support that, as you've clearly got the drivers installed correctly.
