new to this!

I need to get a credit card to get a credit rating. i do not own any other credit cards and would pay on time every month. i want 0% interest if possible

    Try your own bank or a sub prime lender like aqua or vanquis. Forget about 0% interest for now.
  • If you're paying in full every month then the interest rate doesn't matter.

    A little tip (might be obvious to some but it caught me out).

    Wait for the statement each month before you pay it.

    I previously would make interim payments as soon as I purchased things and as such a zero balance was being reported to the CRAs ... not much use when building up a credit reference.

    I now have a savings account I pay the money for purchases into, then 10 days after the statement I pay it off in full from what's in the account.

    That does vary by Provider & Credit Reference Agencies since they show a combination of Balances , Payments & other flags (Promo deals, minimum payment markers etc)..

    If you are paying the balance in full then interest rates matter very little since you wouldn't be paying it..
