Barry Manilow. Anyone going to the UK concerts next May?

Options
I've been to countless concerts over the last 30 years, slept on the pavement for tickets numerous times in the 80s and been his No 1 fan (out of thousands of No 1 fans).

He's coming to the Uk next May and tickets have more or less sold out and for the first time ever I haven't got one

Im so shocked at how he looks now with all the 'work' he's had done, he almost looks like a caricature of himself. I think its so sad and I really don't want to see him in concert like that.

I wont use the word 'upset' because there are far worse thins to get genuinely upset about in life but I feel really disappointed.
Im sure he thought he was improving his looks when he started (Im one of those who thought he was great as he was!) but why go so far.

Why do people do this to themselves, don't they see what we see when they look in the mirror?

There is an amazing picture of him next to Liza Minnelli and they are wearing similar leather jackets and look similar too, same hair stylist, maybe same surgeon :)

Agree - it is such a shame. It's rare that anyone actually looks better. Was looking at Sarah Harding the other day thinking what have you done to yourself?!

A lot of the time it's other problems causing issues such as body dysmorphia - not always a case of vanity. My BF goes on about how he sees himself sometimes and it's certainly not how I see him! I can't see him in the bath and he won't just stand there naked. He has bipolar disorder so things like that can sometimes go hand in hand.

Actually, I think lots of people do look better, and we just notice less.

Anne Robinson famously looked fantastically better for example. And the many women of a certain age who just don't seem to get any older and rave about macrobiotic diets and wonder exercise but are getting all kinds of stuff done really I think.
  • I think Rupert Everett was really very handsome before all the work he had done.

And Sharon Osbourne was a bit of a !!!!!! :)

I remember lots of people taking the mickey out of her when she had a face lift.

Oh certainly, no one ever does anything with out some criticism! But she was also pretty well flattered and lots of comments about how good 'the work' was.

Quick google for before and after pictures lead me to this, and I'm sure she can't really be saying its down to 'diet and exercise' when it was so very well publicised at the time :rotfl:

Anyway, I think she looks pretty good. I think its partly because not 'too' much has been done, she still looks 'human'.

I'm another Barry Manilow fan but I am not going to see him. I prefer to remember him the way he was. Also, I think his voice may have gone a little which is one of the reasons I didn't buy tickets to see Leonard Cohen or Neil Young this year.

  • I agree, I saw Barry in May 2011 (first time for a few years) and haven't been since - I was so disappointed with the way he looks (his mouth & face look quite expressionless), he didn't move much either (I know he's getting older and had had a hip op), his voice wasn't as great as it used to be and I really would much prefer to remember how he used to be than see him like that now :(
    It is a shame

Anyone know where paint drying are playing?
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
