Cheap mobile phone with WiFi (card free)

I have no great interest in mobile phones. For the last four or so years I have had a Blackberry 8520 or 9520 (not sure -with a keyboard). Now it seems to eat battery and various friends have looked at it and seem to agree it is past it's Best By Date.
So I'm looking for a new (fairly basic, no fancy features) phone into which I can put my VIRGIN sim card and receive my emails via WiFi as I have done up to now. I quite like a "real" keyboard but would be equally happy with the more modern looking type of phone.
What are my most economical options, please?

CarpHone Warehouse do a wide range of cheap SIM free phones. Have a look at their website or pop in to a store. Either that or have a look on ebay for an unlocked phone.0

A new battery costs around £3. A high capacity battery less than £6.
Blackberry Internet Service for six months with T-Mobile for less than £15.
Costs less than £1 to unlock it.
You can even buy a new housing for £2.75
The main problem with that phone is the lack of 3G which can be annoying if you are away from WiFi and want to send and receive large pics.
Doesn't even sound like you are using the phone to the best of it's capabilities in the first place. Think about that before you splash out on a new one.
Too much of a disposable society these days.0 -

Dude mobile phones are pretty cheap now, and your BlackBerry is good as you said you are just a email person, but still you wanna buy a new phone then i prefer you to look for Samsung and HTC.0 -
Thanks, folks, that's very helpful.
NiftyGidgets: I've bought a new battery but it hasn't made any difference, still gone in 12 hours or less.0 -

That seems too short, even for that model. My older Curve 8900 would last at least 24 hours.
Perhaps a backup and clean install of the OS to the latest version may help.
From whence did you get the battery? How much did you pay?0 -
I wa going to suggest a Nokia Asha 201, but no wi-fi.No free lunch, and no free laptop
