Previous bad credit, now need CC for work..

Morning,

I was previously a bad lass with credit, and whilst the debts are now paid off I still have two defaults from 2009 & 2010 which are satisfied. I also haven't had any usable credit for several years (except for a mobile phone contract).

I've started a new job and need a credit card for work which will get cleared when my expenses are paid each month.

I previously was a bad lass with a lot of credit card companies and whilst they are no longer present on my credit file, am i right to assume that somewhere in the depth of there computer systems they'll remember i was once a bad-un?

I've going through the money saving expert credit card match thingy and it suggested companies who i have previously owed money to, so i wonder if anyone knew if these companies will automatically refuse me because of our previous dealings?

Capital One seem to be the most forgiving when it comes to accepting people who may have defaulted on them in the past....
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Definitely try Capital One. Avoid the 'Progress' card though as they don't seem to ever increase the limit, even when managed well.
