Im still contemplating going to the ombudsman, as they also have failed to tell me of my rights etcDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

The ICO can certainly look at wrong or inaccurate information.
http://www.ico.org.uk/complaints/handlingIf you have a concern about the way an organisation is handling your personal information – perhaps they hold information about you that is incorrect, they have held it for too long, or they are not keeping it secure – we may be able to help you do something about it.
If you tell us about it we will consider your concern. If we think the law has been broken we will tell the organisation how we think they should address the problem. In the most serious cases we can order the organisation to take action.Still rolling rolling rolling......

It has to be 'accurate' - the records of the service supplier will be taken as accurate unless the complainant can provide something better then simply a complaint - proof is required.
The ICO or CRA is not an arbiter of such proof - the courts are.
Utility bills from their previous address at the point of moving, and their new address at the time of the default, would show they never lived there and would be sufficient. What will your verse be?

It is interesting that other people reported VM defaults appearing on both Experian and Equifax, but my OHs only appeared on Experian. We only now discovered that his Experian file had incorrect entry regarding him not being on the Electoral Roll at our current address, that might explain why they did not spot the mistake.
It has now all been corrected and his credit rating shot up:j0
