Mystery disappearance of disputed energy bill

Like a lot of Npower energy users, I didnt get an online bill for 10 months (the whole time I was with them) couldn't post a meter reading and couldn't get an answer on the telephone, so i left. To be surprised with a nearly £500 bill, even after paying £100 per month for duel fuel ( brand new efficiency boiler and only 2 people in the house).
I disputed the bill and duly complained. Today I received a call off them about the dispute, but was told my bill was clear. For a minute or two, I thought they had done this, but they insisted I had cleared it. I got off the phone and inquired at my bank..... no money has gone to them out of my bank...
How has this happened?? Should I inform them it hasn't been paid by me ? Confused

What were the start and end reads? How much does that cost? How much did you pay? Doing those sums will be the quickest and simplest way of answering your question - waiting for npower will take a lot longer.0

Haven't worked that one out at the mo, but will get onto it. To be honest, I was half willing to work out a repayment plan with them. Just can't understand why it has been cleared.
Should i inform them it hasnt come out of my bank or keep quiet???0 -
I paid £1000 for 10 months and the final bill is a bit short of £5000

Its very simple. They have a SAP system. As a result they have no idea which way is up. 'Nuff said.

So does that mean i can leave it and skip off happily without paying?0

Get it in WRITING!0 -
I had something very similar a few years ago with a different supplier. I hadn't realised that all the bills were estimated until I got a £1700 bill, had no chance of me paying it so i thought i could leave and pay it slowly. They wouldn't let me and refused the transfer but the next thing I knew my bill was at £400 and a £1300 discount had been applied.0

Yeah, thats exactly what i did. I said, put it to me in writing today. Fingers crossed0

Hi SteveJonesey,
That seems strange. I'd like to take a look at this for you, so you have some peace of mind about your final account.
If you'd like to send me your details using the email address on my profile page I'll take a closer look.
Thanks

Much as the input by all the energy company reps is appreciated - I suspect your offer won't be taken up.0
