Hi all,
We complete next Friday on our house and are moving out of rented. Our letting agent called my OH today and asked if they can show people round all week next week whilst we are at work and he said yes!! I am totally horrified! lol
Is it unreasonable of me? I have no problem on an evening at all, and we need to be co-operative to get our £1000 deposit back but i just feel so uncomfortable with it. The agents often say 'i'll leave you to have a look around' etc and the flat si so small that all of our posessions are easily on display/within reach...let alone the fact we have a little cat who wont have a clue whats going on.
He says i am being silly, and that i should call them and say I'm not happy etc..
Has anyone done this before? I'm in 95% of cases its absolutely fine, i just dont like the thought of people randomly walking around all of our stuff etc..
Thanks.

It's your right to be there for the viewings, and you should organise them around when you are there if that is what will put your mind at rest.I can take no responsibility for the use of any free comments given, any actions taken are the sole decision of the individual in question after consideration of my free comments.
That also means I cannot share in any profits from any decisions made!;)0 -
If you're concerned about stuff being nicked, tell the agent, or just put your valuables away.
So long as your agent gives reasonable notice, he's entitled to bring viewers around, irrespective of whether you're there or not.0 -
No he's not - depends on your agreement.
I think it is perfectly acceptable that you dont want strangers in your home whilst you aren't there.
Remember at the viewing stage EA's haven't verified anybody's identity yet so it would be quite easy to arrange viewings, nab some jewellry on the sly and disappear.0 -
By the way, good luck with your house move Feanor! I'm so glad you are completing finally.Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0

Thankyou!!
It turns out there was no need for me to panic after all as the girl who saw the flat today has taken it, and my boyfriend was there with them at lunch time so phew...
Thanks Melissa thats really nice. I cant believe its all happening, it will have only been 5 weeks since the offer was made! I am so chuffed to be out of our baking hot flat before the summer really kicks off!
Hows yours going?0 -
I'm glad it's all sorted, but I would say you are well within your rights to be annoyed. What if your cat got out? Or scratched someone protecting his/her territory?Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

It's amazing how quick the rental market moves - glad you don't have to worry about millions of visitors.
My nice new kitchen is finally into my flat, but I now have two issues:
- Some moron ran off with my handbag in Borough Market last week, leaving me sans cash right when I needed to buy a new fridge (reissued cash card turne up the post yesterday, thankfully)
- New boyfriend is allergic to my sofas. Or it could be a cunning excuse to get me to go to his flat.
Did you buy a maisonette in Surrey in the end?Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0 -
