Halifax Guaranteed Acceptance

in Credit cards
I've had a letter through from Halifax Credit Card today with a really good balance transfer offer, just as my interest free card is coming to an end. The letter says I am guaranteed to by accepted. Bonus, so no credit check to risk failing (not that I ever have before).
My question is, am I guaranteed to get the offer that the letter describes? It is no use to me if I don't get the interest free. I know the warning on adverts that they only have to give 51% of people the headline rate, but as this is a personal mailing is it different?

Hi,
I was accepted for the '27' month balance transfer card with Halifax, but instead of 27 months they have given me 21 months interest free. I believe that is the shortest interest free period they will offer on this card.. not sure if it is the same one that you have been offered though.0 -
The offer is 15 month interest free on balance transfers and purchases with only as 0.8% fee. I have a balance I was going to clear but at 0.8% it makes sense to continue stoozing (against offset). But really only if for at least 12 months and only with the low fee. I could of course just use it for a slow stooze.
I suppose I need to know if I will be told before they proceed to do the transfer of the details are not those advertised. Are they obliged to do this?0 -
The way CC offers with "Guaranteed Acceptance" usually work: you will get the card with the advertised conditions, supposed there are no problems with identity checks and you apply within the specified time (these offers are usually valid for maybe six weeks or so).
But - and here is the crux of the matter:
The CC has not committed themselves to the limit you will be given. Worst case scenario: You will get the card with a limit of 100 quid.0 -
Halifax branch can tell you the likely limit*, if the offer is showing on your screen there are well. This won't change, so long as your credit file hasn't changed since the last monthly feed they took from the CRAs.bengal-stripe wrote: »The CC has not committed themselves to the limit you will be given. I had one offered last week when switching for another £100 incentive. Can't make use of it yet, but nice to know they're still doing them after the integration with Lloyds.
* They'll also show you your 'internal rating' (if you ask nicely!). I forget which is which now (letter and number) but one of them is the APR assigned. For example, my A1 rating means if I took the guaranteed Clarity card I'd get the 12.9% APR rate.0 -
Sometimes at the bottom of the letter they might be a sequence of letters and numbers. This might tell you the credit limit you will be offered you might have to do a little bit of decoding.0

The offer has come through the post.
I had a Halifax credit card years ago, can't remember the limit, but at least £5000. I have a current account with them which is dormant, not used in 5 years with a balance of about £2, just never got round to closing it!!
If I know I'm going to get the deal offered I'll put the transfer details on the form which will hopefully prompt a decent limit. If it's not certain I'd rather request the transfer later or use as a slow stooze. I've never taken up an offer through the post before but it seems like a pretty good deal at the right time for me.

Dotdash - cross post.
There is a serious of letters and numbers. I wonder, it would be plenty if so ;-)0 -
i think you answers are at the bottom of the letter I think it might also contain your rate as well.
Don't post it on here as it will have personal information that could be of use to someone else.0
