RAC Platinum Warranty worth it?

I am buying a four-year-old car from a long-established dealer. They are selling the car with a 3 month RAC warranty, however they are offering me 12 months RAC Platinum Warranty for an extra £150.00, which I am led to believe is rather cheap.

In the past I have always steered clear of these warranties as they generally aren't worth the paper they're printed on, and I don't expect much has changed.

Any thoughts or feedback?

Tell them to chuck it in with the sale if it's that good.

Also some cars are more reliable than others, so you may need it or put the money aside incase you need it. Although £150 wont get you far nowadays.

SOGA may help you for some things which aren't wear and tear related, but worth putting the deposit on a credit card just to be safe as any car can be a lemon.
  • So they are putting a 3 month RAC warranty on for free & if you pay an additional £150 you get a year. I think I would allow THE DEALER the cost & just have the 3 month...... I imagine the RAC will try to offer an amazing deal at the end of your 3 month warranty anyway...

Of course I would be tempted to insist that the initial 3 month warranty is also Platinum
