Why do so many people feel the need to shout "troll" at unassuming posts? It seems people do it at pretty much anything.
People troll in order to get a reaction..
The person who calls "troll" gives them a reaction... because they don't want "the troll" to think they're gullible enough to react to their "outrageous and blatant" lie (most of the time Troll-Caller just disagrees).
If you don't believe someone, maybe just give yourself a pat on the back and feel quietly satisfied with your cynicism.. because you're not making a statement about anything else by reacting... you knew all along.. good for you.

I'd rather have a load of troll threads, than a load of threads where people ask if something is illegal, just because they don't agree with it.0

It can be easier than debating, so just they are a troll.
Some times the "troll" may say "troll" to discredit the person / annoy them.
Other times they just do not want to believe something has happened.0
