Marks and Spencer Bedroom Furniture

Hi, after extensive research we are going to by M&S furniture (bed, chest of drawers and wardrobe) for DS's room. Not cheap but looks great in the shop and I suppose I trust M&S.
However, just stumbled accross this review site:
http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews92688.html
which gives them awful reviews.
Does anyone have any experience of M&S furniture - good or bad?

I'm popping down to Sharps in a minute or two for a couple of pairs of socks and a new shirt.

Got a wardrobe and chest of drawers from them. As you say not bargain basement but well made and sturdy.0

So no thoughts on M&S then?

Well yes. I thought I might just have conveyed my thoughts on M&S as a purveyor of furniture via the use of irony. Perhaps not then. Its just brand engineering and you pay a price premium for the privelege. Sorry but I really don't see the point on a Money Saving Site for one moment. Sorry if I offended you.
Cheers
No problem, you didn't offend me at all. Just didn't help much either!0 -
Hi we have two sets of furniture from M&S, Chloe Nursery furniture and Padstow Bedroom furniture. Both furniture sets are well made and are lasting well, the nursery furniture is 3 years old and is on its second baby and still looks new. We didn't have any problems with the delivery crews, they were friendly and built what was required and took all the packaging away. You get what you pay for, some of the M&S furniture is cheap and won't last long but get a good idea of it in the shop. We have also had 4 Sofas from them and they have always been superb.0

Similar experience here. I bought a bed, two chest of drawers and twin bedside cabinets about a year ago from Marks. It wasn't a price driven decision it was a style and (on the face of it) substance call. Delivery and condition of the furniture on arrival was problem free. Still happy.
If you are attracted to the furniture and not repelled by the price, you do at least have the opportunity to have a good look over the piece(s) in order to gauge the quality (or otherwise) before you buy.
Incidentally, in March I nearly bought some oak furniture from oakfurnitureland (subsequently number one son did – shocking – furniture not son). Fortunately for me, I settled for another online retailer that by chance had a tiny showroom not far from where I live. Glad I did. The stuff I was going to buy was rubbish but I spotted something else in the showroom which wasn't and I went home and ordered the same day (Saturday) goods arrived Monday; even got the nice man in the 'shop' to give me a discount - result!0 -
Furniture (bedroom) bought from them is very good quality once you get it. It's just the long wait for stuff that is allegedly in stock and the !!!!!!ation you will get from their delivery management team ( not the actual blokes who deliver, they are great)You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0

I'm not sure about marks and spencer furniture but I know the quality of their sofas is excellent. A friend of mine has had some for about 10 years and still look great so I went to look to get some for myself.
I found a company called Trade Secret in Oxfordshire which sells Marks and Spencer sofas at pretty much half the price and you get to see the exact sofa you are buying and can take it home with you straight away if you wanted. I was very impressed with the whole set up so would definitely recommend. They had loads of bedroom and dining room furniture as well but didn't really look at it.0 -

I agree. I bought a sofabed and armchair from them in 1993. I no longer have the sofabed but the armchair still looks almost new.0
