Can online shopping be as cheap as Aldi?

  • Find shopping online saves me loads! I shop with Tesco - go through Quidco as a new customer (use a new email) - I get minimum £5 cashback through Quidco and up to £17 off a £60 spend. I reserve for collection and choose a free slot - so this week, I spent £62.77 - £17 voucher code = £45.77 - £5 cash back = £40.77
Shopping online lets me see all offers easily and i stick to what I need - then I simply drive to store and collect.:p

Maybe just retrain your husband to stick to a list ? ;)

If you are sometimes tempted by special offers in store or get home to discover you've got three of whatever you bought already in stock then online *can* be a saving. To make online really work though I think you need to build meal plans around the special offers . I still find Aldi cheaper doing this though - but you probably need to offset the physical issues ......or leave your husband outside til you get to the till ;)

My husband works long hours as I'm unable to work.

Think its the whole thing of driving to the store parking the car and then the physical slog round the supermarket, plus packing up, loading into the car and then unpacking with I get home.

Going to try an online shop, and try not to compare all the prices, think this is x amount cheaper in Aldi and think how much better I am going to feel for not having to have physically done the shop. The energy saved can be used to make my family a home cooked meal.

    Thank you all

I'm not tempted with goodies online as I am in the shop.

Be savvy about your delivery slots to keep the costs down.

I'm so fed up with grocery shopping (Tesco and Morrisons) I have paid £15 delivery for 3 months with Asda, min delivery is £25. I went online, and did a shop from Asda (we don't have one within 10 miles), spent £34 and had my delivery the next day (Sunday) between 1 and 3 pm!

I am very pleased, we don't have any supermarkets within walking distance so always have to pay petrol to get a food shop, not anymore though! We won't have to empty the car and walk to the house with heavy stuff, it comes to my door now yay!

And my dd is going to pay half the delivery price and get her food online with Asda as well, bargain :p

And I won't be able to browse the books/mags/clothes etc so good job all round!
KEEP CALM AND keep taking the tablets :cool2:

Well done, that's a weight off your mind.:)

It occurred to me that as your DH can't be trusted to go shopping;) maybe click and collect might be an option if you can't get free delivery.

We shop online for groceries, always check the offers section first... - makes sense to in winter as well, saves going out in the cold!

I have been shopping online for the last six weeks because of illness. I have come to the conclusion it is cheaper to do the shopping online and get it delivered.I always look to see what the offers are before I start to shop and plan the shopping around them. Also it saves having to lug the shopping about. I shall continue to online shop when I am better.
