What additional information is given on the notice? does this relate to mining rights/minerals etc? or does it not say anything along those lines?

Presumably the notice came with the explanatory notes to explain what a unilateral notice is?

Who is the beneficiary of the notice? is it a specific individual? is it the church? the local parish? local estate owners?

The law is changing this month and any ancient rights that have existed over your land must be registered by this month otherwise they will potentially be lost by the beneficiary.

If you agree/accept that the mineral rights belong to the duke of rutland then you don't need to respond or do anything. If you don't then you would need to consider raising a formal objection.

    I've been through this recently:

Fortunately the application was withdrawn in our case, however my thread does give some information on the process for making an objection (post #24). If you need any more specific information then feel free to ask on here or PM me.
Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard

Ah, so the Duke of Rutland wants to go fracking under your jerry built peasant's hovel rather than under his Lord's castle which has stood the test of time. If you don't have a forelock, now is the time to grow one so that you have something to tug when he passes your way.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'
  • i'll pull on something when he dare passes lol ;)

I've just received one of these from the Marquess of Salisbury.

It gives you a right fright, going to look into it and ask the neighbours if they have received them too.

  • We have been working on a website to help obtain the 100,000 signatures required to get parliament to discuss manorial rights. The website is expected to become a focal point for a national campaign and is hoped to help to reach out and open communications with other areas affected by claims to manorial rights.

We are of a viewpoint that if 100,000 notices have been sent out by the Land Registry, then getting the 100,000 signatures on the e-petition to the government (not yet created) should not be out of the question. If people ask their mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, uncles, cousins, friends and people in the workplace, enough support should be obtainable. We therefore suggest not only signing up on the website to follow the campaign as it progresses, but to share the website with people you know. So, please, take a look - feel free to make suggestions - and support the campaign.

The petition to end these 'rights' is now live, please will you sign it and encourage others to do the same.
