Vent - Cost of AA Renewal

We have been with The AA for 25+ years. Currently we have a vehicle-only policy, with Roadside and Relay plus complimentary Home Start. We have not needed to actually use the service for a few years now.
The renewal this year is the best part of £140!
I range them up to do the annual "renewal dance" and they offered me just under £84. Considering last year I paid £74 then this is an increase of more than 13%. I tried getting the price down further but all I effectively got was a "computer says no" reply.
So I asked to speak to a manager. One wasn't immediately available so I was promised a call back within 30 minutes ... I'm still waiting several days later!
(I haven't renewed yet. Unless they offer me a better price I'm minded to not renew, and take out cover elsewhere).
/Just venting.

Just done a quote via Green Flag - for their Rescue Plus package (which easily matches the current AA cover) there offer is £64.66 ... almost £20 saving versus the best price the "AA computer" would offer.0

had similar with rac, so shopped around found cheaper then call them so they reduced considerably to give a new customer online rate - result!I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

I usually cancel at the end of the year, and then sign up as a new customer via Quidco - cheaper, even without the cashback!0

I do the exact same thing. I never renew.0 -

I would suggest having a good goggle about the Pros and cons regarding Green flag.
If l recall correctly, they have a time limit as to how long they can try and fix the issue at roadside, their main criteria is to transport you to a local garage for repairs, that's where they make their commission. Also unless it's changed, they don't do home relay, they tow you to their local designated garage.
I would suggest consider cancelling the policy and rejoining via Topcashback for example, or join the RAC via cash back and switch back and forth each year, there is no loyalty from these companies these days.0 -
I'm fed up with the AA too.
They have taken unauthorised payments from my account, admitted they made a mistake and will refund. They had asked me for £179 annual renewal for basic joint membership plus relay, reduced it to £135 when I threatened to cancel then took the £179 anyway...then a month later, took another £44!
God knows how many phone calls later I'm still waiting for my refund.
I've just emailed the CEO so will see if he can sort it out for me.
Next year I will go with another provider.0 -
I have had this "song & dance" with AA for the past couple for years regarding renewal prices.
When I have told them other prices I can get they have matched it but I do feel I am rewarding them for my extra research / work on this!
I maybe think it's just less hassle to switch.
Next year I'll maybe just go with RAC to pay AA back for all my trouble

I was told by an AA salesman at our local supermarket to never renew. One year go wth AA the next RAC, then swap again. He said this was the best way to get the best deal, this was after I'd complained about the huge increase in the 2nd year quote.
Now I have breakdown cover through my insurance, as it was a fraction of the cost."I AM DEATH, NOT TAXES. I TURN UP ONLY ONCE."- Terry Pratchett0 -

I phoned up the Aa a few years ago, and told them that as both their new customer price, and that offered by the RAC were considerably cheaper I didn't want to renew.
The lady I was speaking to said that was fine, but I would not benefit from my no call out discount - she couldn't comprehend how I felt I was already not "benefitting" from my no call out discout!!0
