Why do you want a CC in the first place?
All (with very few exceptions) CCs don't cost you anything if you don't withdraw cash and if you pay the balance in full every month. Some pay you cashback on the top and/or give some perks, but with very little credit history you won't have much choice. For the first CC it's recommended to start with the bank you have your current account with for some time.0 -
Both of my sons are students, eldest banks with Natwest and youngest with Barclays. Both of them have been bombarded with offers of their banks credit cards. Eldest has a Natwest one but never uses it - just has it in case of a major major emergency if ever he needs it.
Youngest hasn't bothered to get one at all so as not to be lead into temptation of spending money he doesn't have, but just sticks with his overdraft.
Has your bank not offered you a card? If not I am sure they will offer you a student one if you apply and you have no adverse credit history. They like to capture students into their products. But think carefully about why you need one and what you will be using it for otherwise you can get into debt very easily!0
