How long should it take take for suppliers to switch?
I moved property 10 weeks ago which is connected to British gas. After doing a comparison I found at the time NPower would work out cheaper and instructed them on th 5th. Aug. it's now been 9 weeks and as yet it has still not switched over.
This is for both Gas & Electric. How long is acceptable to wait?

Did you register the accounts in your name with British Gas first?0

10 weeks ago was the 30th July. If you informed npower on the 5th August, this would imply a switchover date at some point in mid September.
If you didn't register with BG and give meter readings when you moved in, they are probably blocking the transfer.0 -
I called BG the day I moved in (29th July) and advised them of meter readings and set up DD which have been paid monthly on the 1st of each month.
I made it clear I did not agree to sign into a contract with them at that time and this was agreed.
I've had no contact from NPower other than a letter dated 8th Aug confirming my request. This arrived at the beginning on Sept even tho it gave details suggesting I had a calling off period of 14 days from the date of the letter which is a bit pointless?0 -

Having called at sat on hold I've been informed my electricity moved on the 1st Oct. (I spoke to them on the 1st an was told still no date confirmed!?)
Gas not due until 26th Oct.
Now this is a fixed price until Dec 15 and my worry is the longer this goes on the less opportunity I have of benefiting from this offer making it less appealing?0 -

You don't need to. You were in a deemed contract from day one when you started using the supplies. No free lunch, and no free laptop
