I'd be concerned what would happen if I was injured or something happened to my car, in what is in effect an illegally operated car park.

Last line of BBC story states "The facility must now close by 30 June but Karl Airport Parking are contesting the decision."
So therefore it is NOT an illegally operated car park and the rest of your statement doesn't stand up either IMHO.

We certainly wont be using them again. Used them for quite a few years, twice a year. They used to be professional in their approach. Driver this year wasn't very professional. He spent the return journey running down the company (who pay his wages) - he had left another one to go to Karl. The past few times they have taken longer and longer to arrive at the airport for pick up. McCauslands, Killead Lodge etc had 3 or 4 buses in each picking up passengers in the time we stood waiting. We weren't going to use them this year, but gave them the benefit of the doubt.

I had a fall getting on their bus. Wasn't looking any compensation, just acknowledgement that it had happened. They couldn't have cared less. I had other passengers having to pick me up of the ground. Driver never even acknowledged me (I did contact them and he gave a made up story).

So we'll not be using Karl again. Will have a look at your recommendation of Killead Lodge instead for next year.

You would have been better reading the failed enforcement notice appeal below the BBC link. It failed. The enforcement notice is in effect so you are actually wrong and it IS an illegally operating site. In fact the site has NEVER had planning permission for use as a car park for airport users.

So you can state they are "contesting the decision". The decision being an appeal. But the fact remains, they are operating WITHOUT planning permission.
  • Karl Parking is still alive, It seems they are available 24 hrs today.

They are alive, just like Days hotel car park in belfast was 6 months ago. But they don't have permission to operate as a car park.
