Tuesday 8th Oct What Small DFW Things Will You Be Doing Today??!

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:
Morning campers
super quick post from me as I have to leave for work early this morning. Today I go to West Midlands for a 2 day training course for work. Lots to do!
DFW things for me today:
* [STRIKE]quickly get ready[/STRIKE]
* do some prep before I leave for meetings today
* [STRIKE]checked banking [/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]checked cc statement and worked out payments made this month[/STRIKE]
* B/L from stores
* will be eating dinner out but will claim that back on expenses
* come home at lunch & pack for going away
* post ebay parcel!!! OMG I am the worst ebayer ever!
* work on train to Coventry
* look at where we can get Euros from
* remind oh about cc payment
* call people about faulty toilet & replacement parts
Ok think that's all for me. Better get ready! Have a great day x

Oh oh oh it's is not a good day for toilets clearly!
DNMS - thanks for the kick off.
Day had started with waking from a lovely sleep. Got a panicked phone call from OH at 9.30, he heard a huge bang and the toilet cistern has completely cracked down one side. Water poured through kitchen ceiling. OH has turned water off at stop !!!! and mopped up all the water. Had to ring letting agents and the plumber is on his way.
Hope that LL is not too angry. Sounds a bit odd to say that the toilet miraculously broke
MSE things today:
Washing out on the line
B/L/D from stores
Crochet more of m-i-l's scarf while waiting for the plumber
Rinse contents of flooded cupboard in minimum of water after stop !!!! back on
Cannot flush (other) toilet while stop !!!! off
Cannot think of any more. Brain too panicked...
Hope your day is better than mine so far!LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -

If you google your local council, they should be able to direct you to your local recycling center. There will be a big container there for "small electricals". We had to do this recently for some stuff. HTH

Morning all,
Another glorious autumnal day with lots of sunshine.
Today's few small money-saving things:
*Home-made porridge pots for breakfast.
*Saved water left in kettle from breakfast coffee in flask ready for next coffee. Kettle boils in no time, so less energy used.
*Found home-made tomato & onion curry sauce in freezer batch cooked ages ago, which I can use with last of the rubber beef & veggies for dinner tonight.
*Free exercise - drove to riverside meaning to say hello to the ducks & not do much else, then Mr Pedometer said I'd done nearly 2 miles & burned 180 calories!
*Filled my pockets with beautiful shiny conkers. Have put them in a clay flowerpot with an old candle wreath of fake berries around the top & stood it on windowsill, & it honestly looks like something that would cost £14 at our local garden centre, but was free!
*Pick more courgettes.
*Feed & water cucumber plant which is still producing, because of the warm weather.
*No heating on yet.
*Start clearing greenhouse & veggie garden & chucking our home made compost about, to get ready for next year's home grown food. My gardening year always starts in October.
Have a good day, everyone.

ziggy - So you've been out for a walk today, too! I've felt just the teeniest tiniest little resurgence of anxiety symptoms over the last week or so, for no reason whatsoever, so walking (even just a mile or two) is such a good way of burning off the adrenalin. I feel completely fine now, and because I'd done some exercise, it motivated me to re-start logging my calorie intake in my diet book, as my weight has stuck again, & I'm aiming to lose a few more lbs before December when all my Christmas baking sends me into sort of festive carb coma, lol. The knitting for charity sounds lovely. xx2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Didn't get to post yesterday, busy day at work then gave myself food poisoning last night on some soup that was just a bit too old in my fridge.... oops!
So just in bed, off sick today
Small things for yesterday/today:
Drove shorter route home from work, 34 miles through cities (mostly fast roads still though) rather than 44 miles by motorway. Takes 10 mins longer, but based on google investigations should be less fuel... if i do this 2x a week-ish for the rest of the academic year should be 500+ miles saved. I have skyrocket mileage so every little helps!
took lunch to work
signed up to Crowdology
and to do today....
well i'm not eating a right lot!!!
Done a couple of Crowdology surveys, earned £1 or so.
Check for Quidco surveys
NSD!
Pay in a couple of cheques - expenses/extra work.
Adpoints
Competitions.
Have switched off a few appliances on standby at the plug.
Have a lovely day everyone xxxx0 -
Afternoon all,
Thanks for the starter DNM.
Had a bit of a meltdown earlier over stupid "chimney-Housing Association-neighbour" related dispute, but recovering now. I have a tendency to worry about things that'll probably never even happen and then I get cross with myself for over-reacting. Must be something in the air today. Hugs to you all.
:cry::cry:
Deep breathe and here's my list...Keeping calm and carrying on, what else can I do? Going with an optimistic green colour scheme today.

The List:
Check online banking.
Job-seeking.
OH is at IT course. Will print 5 documents while she's there. Free printing!
Wrote letter to credit card provider as Sky are refusing to even discuss our problem with me. Gonna try to get the £175 back from credit card company under Section 75.
Come up with something for dinner before OH comes home. Might make cannelloni. Perhaps with green tomatoes that have refused to ripen.
Enjoy indoor fuchsia that has bloomed all Summer and is still at it.
Wrapped newly-delivered Christmas gifts with home-made gift-wrap. Going to try not to wear my new trainers til Christmas, unless the old ones fall apart.
Delete rubbish from e-mails for maximum efficiency. Don't need any more confusion in my life.
OH to get Nectar Points with petrol.
Clean mugs with own-brand-Milton fluid.
