Just got a brain teaser!
Paid off my credit card bill for the month today and now see this weird thing on my account:
Balance: £7,444.50
Available credit: £14,996.00
Credit limit: £15,000.00
The payment won't reach Mastercard until tomorrow or even the next day even though it's from a Lloyds account to a Lloyds MC but can't work out the available credit amount.
I'm just curious - can anyone put me out of my misery please?

When they call a direct debit - they have to call it several days in advance. They go through two stages - an immediate 'yes', followed by the final settlement figure a couple of days later.
They've already had the provisional 'yes' back from the bank and are now awaiting the full settlement to hit them.
AmEx did it to me earlier in the month - I had some expensive plane tickets to buy and I saw the update, so I spent on my (almost full before payment) card. Two days later the flights clear, but the payment takes another day. So I got hit with an 'overlimit' charge. One call to AmEx sorted that out though.0 -
I don't understand. You don't pay mastercard anything, you pay the card issuer, so if its a Lloyds MC then the credit will affect the available credit immediately, but the balance will not be adjusted for a few days.
I use Aqua for the 3% and less than 2 hours after I've paid from my bank, the available credit has been increased by the amount I've paid.0 -

Not a direct debit, I paid by bank transfer from my current account- sorry, I may have not made my query totally clear.
The query is about my credit card account not my current account. The credit limit is £15K. There is a balance payable on it of £7440.50 which I paid off tonight and yet there is an available credit of £14,996.00.0 -

I understand that - but I have paid the account in full and yet the available credit is £4.00 under.
As I said, just curious! Perhaps I should go and watch some TV. :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
If you definitely paid the balance in full then maybe you have a pending transaction for £40
