Hi, Iv'e been with Eon for 5-6 years now and tend to pay roughly the same amount each year. I have always paid quarterly every 3 months and paid within 14days for the supposed 3% discount crap. I have always been on the fixed plans, the last was the fixed v2.

I have called them and asked for my annual kWH consumption for both gas & electric. I was told Electric was: 2509kWH and Gas: 4760kWH.
So by all accounts: Your current plan
E.ON Fixed 1 Year v2 with Tesco Clubcard points
Electricity unit rates
11.900p per kWh
Annual electricity standing charge: £110.89
Gas unit rates
3.721p per kWh
Annual gas standing charge: £139.53
all rates exc. VAT
Annual spend on gas and electricity: £741.42

I would prefer to keep my energy with the same provider and of-course on a fixed rate.

Comparison sites seem to suggest the smaller energy firms are the cheapest but are they safe to go to? Or for a probably saving of £50 a year or so, just stick to Eon and the next fixed rate? :|

[EDIT] Seems if i switch to Npower, I would be saving some coins for sure.
Is there any bonus deals with switching to Npower?

Yeah I will do, anything else? :)

£31.50 @ Quidco the best cashback deal?

Is Npower a reliable energy provider?

It will be the same gas down the same pipe, and the same electricity down the same wire. They are all "reliable" in that they will all deliver you energy at the flick of a switch (today's news notwithstanding!).

There are various customer service surveys out there. npower generally fare worst out of the big 6 (although none of them come out smelling of roses). Smaller suppliers do better.

I can't post links, but google "energy supplier customer satisfaction" and click on the first link (should be a which article).
  • Who are you with if you don't mind me asking?

I don't mind you asking, but it really doesn't matter. What's cheapest for me in my area of the country, and my usage, won't be the cheapest for you.

Similarly, most people don't have any problem with their energy suppliers. Remember, these companies all have millions of customers, and the complaints number in the low thousands.

Sometimes in life you have to go with your instinct. If there were one perfect supplier we would all be with them; if Waitrose sold their food at ASDA prices we'd all shop there; and I wish my wife looked like Kelly Brook.
