Student saving for a gap year

Hey
I'm a student starting my final year in September and I'd like to save up for a gap year after I finish uni. After being assaulted last year I just recieved £1500 compensation and want to save it for the gap year. I don't want to put it into my HSBC student account as I'd just end up spending it all. I'd like to pay in some money from working over the summer when I have it, but also be able to dip into it when money is really tight. My overdraft is paid off at the moment but as I temping work is irregular. Any advice for which account to choose?
