Can you open Halifax current accounts in Scotland?

I used to have a Halifax current account that paid £5/month and would like to re-open one.

Can you open Halifax accounts in Scotland if you go through their website?

My previous account was opened while I was living down South.

Only requirement that I have seen is that you are a UK resident.

Can't see any reason not to if you're managing it exclusively online but don't expect any account services (or accurate advice) from Bank of Scotland branches anymore. On the plus side, they're apparently returning to Scottish high streets again in the relatively near future: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-business-23535375

Yes! I had this exact problem at the weekend. Tried to do it online, and it kept coming up with errors when trying to find a local branch.

I had to phone up and do it so I could get a 'generic' branch/sort code since there are no Halifax banks, but I can still use BoS etc.

I applied online, application was successful, but I got stuck with the same issue as you. The friendly chap on the phone just suggested putting their main branch as my local branch, 10 seconds later and the application was successfully completed.

Now to try and create some DDs to savings accounts...
