Online applications...

Anyone else not impressed ? I went through the process with Tescos crappy website to open an ISA account (it kept timing out) but finally after ages the process was completed.

After all that they were't satisfied and wanted me to send them documents in the post, god knows how long that rigmaroll would have taken to complete so i cancelled the application.

What the hell do they want, blood ? Just to open a stinking savings account that doesn't even keep up with inflation-we're all getting screwed bigtime as savers these days.

Least they could do is make the process quick and easy. They have more than enough info on people like me with loads of credit history and stuff.

I do hope you are feeling better after your uncontrolled vent.

If you use the address with which you are registered on the Electoral Roll and which Credit Agencies hold for you, online applications generally sail through. If they don't, just send your details as requested, or put up and shut up if it's too much effort.

They want as much information as required to prevent themselves getting fined next time they are audited/investigated.

Companies have tightened up their procedures since the last time a bank was fined for not following money laundering regulations.

They want to avoid getting fined millions by the regulator for not doing their job correctly.

You could pop in with your docs instead of through the post?

  • Although the original poster is clearly high today, I do sympathise with them regarding the labyrinthine processes that get foisted upon us.

Once upon a time I signed up for an instore card with a large high street department store as they were giving you a free £20 voucher. This took about 15 minutes. A couple of weeks later I got my card through the post, my name was spelled wrong on it. I phoned up to register and going through the details, it came to light that in their system, my name was spelled wrong, either typed in incorrectly by some underpaid office lackey, or the person in the store misheard me. The person on the phone refused to correct it, and said I had to go back to the store to get a new card. By this time, they had wasted 30 minutes of my life, and I couldn't be bothered to do it again. Pathetic.
